I'm looking for something for DD9, reluctant reader.

We already get Aquila for DS, and Phoenix for them both, but she's not keen on either.

She loves dinosaurs and animals, and crafts. We got a British Dinosaurs mag (aimed at adults) a month or two ago and she took it everywhere with her.

National Geographic do a magazine for children I think.

DS has loved “How it works” . Has lots of different things.
But no crafts

I'm familiar with NG, but not How It Works. I'll look it up! Thanks!

My dd, 8 loves National Geographic for kids and Whizz Bang Pop, which is science made fun...one warning though tgey will pester you to do all the experiments.

She also adores the Beano. But I said she needed to drop one of the other subscriptions if she wants it regularly but those two won!

Oooh. I'll investigate WPB. Do you get these from the supermarket/smiths, or on sub?

The Woodland Trust have Nature Detectives for children and membership gives you four activity packs a year. Might be more, but they have lots of stuff online and pro tables

My nephews LOVE The Beano, much more than The Phoenix or any other we've tried. It's not educational in the slightest and they look forward to it arriving in the post each week.

Whizz Pop Bang!!! Subscription only and worth every penny. I'm a specialist in aspects of primary science and just adore the mix of articles, experiments, interviews, puzzles, jokes, etc.
The experiments & makes should appeal to her creative side.

My dds get the RSPB magazine and Your horse magazine.
My dd8 is a reluctant reader and will read anything about animals. The National Geographic book of animals and she’ll happily read the RSPB magazines they send us.

My dad gets Whizz Pop Bang for my son. I think he said he didn't need to sign up for a year or anything, can stop at any time. So a good one to try without the commitment, maybe?

DD6 gets The Phoenix weekly and Discovery Box monthly. Discovery Box is like Nat Geo but without adverts. It’s aimed at 9+ but it’s fine for my 6yr old, had Adventure Box before which is their magazine for her age range but she found it babyish for some reason. She absolutely loves The Phoenix though.
