Anyone use Crazy Colours hair dyes & could advise...?

I have agreed to dye the ends (that will be cut off before back to school) of 12.5yo dd1's hair, hot purple (or something like that) for our local Pride festival.

Her hair's naturally med-brown though so I don't think it'll take very well without pre-lightening.

I wondered if anyone could recommend a diy pre-lightener we could use that's not too pricey?

Tia :)

Jerome Russel bleach kits are pretty cheap. Make sure you get gloves. Also when before you put the bleach on get a comb and back comb the line where you are going to take it to, this will make it look less of a harsh line.

@Oswin thank you, I've seen Jerome Russell kits in Home Bargains for about £4 so we'll nip to town one day and get one.

Crazy colour is realllly good. I had medium brown hair and done a bright pink and it came out lovely, I also tried the peacock blue/green and I loved that too. If you wanted something longer lasting then pre lightner it is a good idea , if it's just the ends then the cheapest one in the shop will do the job, you can pick up some good priced ones from the supermarkets or pharmacies x

I second home bargains. They sell a couple of different lightening kits, we've used them for years. DD has had just about every colour of crazy colour there is, sometimes several at once and they've all taken.
Her hair is naturally mousy brown too.

Excellent, thank you all so much. Dd will be chuffed when I tell her we can go ahead now I know what to use!
