Painful spots on / around / in ears?

I’ve been having symptoms for ages that seem to be hormone related - GP agreed to check my hormone levels last year and said they were all fine. I was convinced it was my thyroid but multiple tests including antibodies were all in normal range.

My skin was quite clear until a month or so ago when I started getting really deep cystic acne on my face and back and my ears! It’s mainly stopped now but I’m still getting really painful ones on and in my ears.

Just wondering if anyone has had this who knows why? Don’t think I’ve ever had spots here before and I’ve had more than 10 in the last month or so. It’s driving me mad.

I’m 37, if that makes any difference. Symptoms seem to vary according to my cycle, which is still regularish (23-28 days). I’m not on any hormonal contraception. I have endometriosis and adenomyosis.

Is your hair oilier? Could you change your pillowcase more?

SinkGirl · 27/07/2019 08:40

No, my hair is the same as ever, and I wear it up 99.9% of the time so I don’t think it’s that. Pillowcases changed often, and I sleep on one side but getting this issue on both sides. It’s very odd to suddenly have spotty ears!

That is odd. Maybe increased sebum production there? Could you include the ears in your face wash routine?

Yes, I’m definitely trying to keep them clean, seems so strange. I am getting more spots on my face than I was, but my ears are definitely more affected. It’s a mystery!

Bugger.

Yes, lots of stress. I have disabled twin toddlers and it’s all very stressful. Can’t see that changing any time soon either!

Sorry for your loss - my mum passed away four years ago now and it’s so hard.

I get this when I'm using a hair conditioner for dry hair. I make sure I really rinse around my ears more after washing my hair.
