Are there any nice parks for kids and adults near the trafford centre?

Hoping to meet with my mum. Struggling to find somewhere we can have a nice wander and the kids can run around, maybe climbing equipment and picnic area?
I live in Chester so anywhere between there and Trafford centre is good. No closer to bury area that trafford though if possible.
Recommendations much appreciated!

Appleton Thorn is exactly half way between the two places. It's a nice village.

Is there a park there? I can find anything online about it other than a school and a village hall.

There is a large field nearby with an empty cabinet, but they will not let you in for free- the local football ground.

Could you go for a tram ride somewhere- say to Heaton Park?

Heaton park is an hour away for us and I was trying to keep it a bit closer.

If the weather turns rubbish, we stayed at the Premier Inn South Trafford, the pub that is attached has a soft play area with climbing & ball pool. It's great because you can leave your car there & walk in to the Trafford Centre. The Lego experience shop is good for kids, you have to book & the tour takes about 90 minutes, plus they have an area for you to eat your own food.

Trafford Centre is really close to Sale, Flixton and Urmston all of which have parks - a nice one in Sale is Worthington Park - it’s not very big though. There’s a larger park in Flixton around Flixton House, not sure what the facilities are.

Or if you come off the M60 at Cheadle you’re right near Bruntwood Park which has lots of nice fields for walking, a duck pond, cafe, large play area and other bits and bobs. Or there’s Bramhall Hall which has a large climbing area/ play area.

There’s always Lyme Park too which is Stockport way, huge adventure playground plus the house. Or Tatton Park in Knutsford. Or Dunham park just outside Altrincham.

Are you just looking for somewhere to meet between those two places or was it a park to visit in combination with a visit to the TC?

Longford park in Stretford just off the m60
Wythenshawe park is just off the m56 and nice play area and cafe
Tatton park and Dunham Massey national trust
