Moving from iphone to samsung. what do I need to know?

My iphone X died after I had it in my pocket in the rain. My super-expensive water resistant phone couldn't handle the rain. I didn't have insurance, I've had iphones for 12 years and never had this problem. (O2 really could not have been less helpful). I am DONE DONE DONE with iphones.

I have a Samsung 10 coming tomorrow (much cheaper even with insurance). Will I regret it after 12 years of iphone? Any tips?

I object to iPhones on so many counts; I've looked at those belonging to friends, but don't really understand why they became so popular. I think Apple in general are overpriced but I do understand why graphics folk love them.

Personally I love my Samsung phone, it needs upgrading now as it is 4 years old but it has been practically bullet proof, charges pretty quickly, and these days there are brilliant Android apps available via Google Play.

Many times my Internet access is actually faster and more reliable on my phone than it is on my laptop; I've used it for Skype and WhatsApp pretty regularly and streaming radio and the sound isn't bad either. It's also super easy to transfer photos etc family have sent me to my laptop with a standard USB/phone cable. The only thing I would say is maybe think about getting an SD card to extend storage space, but I think that applies to lots of brands, not just Samsung...

It just might take you a few days to get used to where things are compared to on your iPhone, but you'll find a lot of features pretty comparable, I think. Good luck!

I'd never go back. I find it very customisable.

And a back button!

Headphone jack so you can watch something whilst charging!

Memory card slot on the side!

Custom keyboards!

File Management!

You can create a folder on your home page and put apps in it. So you can have a much less cluttered appearance. And more privacy!

Personally I tried to switch after having various iPhones since they were first launched. While it was ok I couldn’t get on with the Samsung and have switched back.

Another thing is that you can do split screens.

And on the camera you can do floating shutters for use at awkward angles. Just drag the button to the spot you can reach.

And if you're on the Home screen and Swipe up, you see all the apps loaded on your phone. That's handy if you've downloaded one and it doesn't miraculously appear on your home screen. You Swipe up and it's there, just not shortcutted yet.

Thank you for the encouragement! I am a bit mortified how hard I have found this past week without a smart phone.

I am just hopping mad that I am still paying off a phone on contract that died after 6 months! It feels like apple (and O2) are taking the piss with quality.

I've been an apple fangirl since my purple Imac in 1998. Fingers crossed.

Good to know @cannycat20 I’m thinking of changing from iPhone to Samsung simply because I think the camera is a lot better.

I have had both. But always switch back to an iPhone. I find them easier to use. And our entire house with plugs speakers etc are iPhone. The hardest thing I found stupidly when I moved over was the keyboard. The size is different. And I kept putting in the wrong letters as they are in different places on the screen ( if u see what I mean ). Took me nearly a month to be able to type as quick as I did

Just moved from iPhone to a Samsung A9. I love it. I use my old iPhone as an ipod now!
