If you have a garden, please put a bowl of water out today for any animals who might be passing by. Smile

Thanks for reminding me, I was going to do it last night Smile

Yesterday I saw a squirrel acting ‘odd’ - or possibly being an entirely normal squirrel i wouldn’t actually know... so I walked all the way home and back to the park again to fetch it some water in an old hummus container. It ran away. So technically I just littered. Will definitely be putting a bowl in my own back yard today though. That looks much less mad.

Imagines what a odd acting squirrel looks like, faning itself with its tail , wobbling slightly because it's been drinking beer instead of water

BertrandRussell · 25/07/2019 14:55

My dp’s been travelling on the train with our dog today, and the staff keep offering him water for her...

Odd acting squirrel was lying spread eagled on the tarmac with its belly to the floor. We both freaked out a bit because I didn’t see it and almost stepped on it but it took it a while to find the energy to scramble backwards a bit and resume it’s road kill imitating pose. Is that normal? I’ve never seen it before? Maybe it had been at the beer?

I thought about filling a washing up bowl with water and putting it outside my back gate as lots of people walk past with dogs. Just not sure if the owners would be funny about dogs sharing the water (though I know dogs could eat or drink from the filthiest of sources)

Yeah we've been putting bowls of ice cubes out.

Also turned the sprinkler on the chicken coop earlier, they all came and splashed about.

titanicteaspoons · 25/07/2019 19:58

You can also put a dish outside, layered with stones and shallow fill with water for the bugs/bees etc Smile

BertrandRussell · 25/07/2019 20:12

Make sure that any water bowls you put out are easy to get out of if they’re deep put lots of stones. Animals are pretty stupid......

FamilyOfAliens · 25/07/2019 20:14

Was going to say the same, Bertrand.

Some animals will drown if the bowl is too deep.

dementedpixie · 25/07/2019 20:18

I topped up our pond for the cats and any other animals that come to visit

Soubriquet · 25/07/2019 20:25

I’ve had a dog bowl buried in the garden up to rim lever and then filled with stones and water

Been topping it up everyday. I don’t think anything is using it but it’s there for those who do
