Tell me it's not a disaster! (haircut related)

Had my haircut today, not a massive change in length, just an inch or two, but the hairdresser took it upon himself to put in loads of random short layers and graduate it way more than I've ever had before! It feels like I have very little hair let due to all the short layers and "thinning" and "softening" that he did. I would really appreciate some honest opinions. I washed I got home to see if that would be any better, and I think it is marginally so I'm attaching the photos I took then!

P.s. I'm only 26 so partly I think it's the "grown up"-ness of the cut that's upsetting me.

I like it Smile

Celebelly · 24/07/2019 22:49

I think it's lovely!

ViciousTrollop · 24/07/2019 22:49

Came to say it looks like Fleabag's hair!

Some volumising mousse and a pair of mini straighteners to add waves and I think it would look ace.

OP I see what you mean about the nape but it think it looks longer because the sides have curled/jumped up and the nape won’t do that. If it was straight at the sides I don’t think you’d notice this.

Seahorseshoe · 26/07/2019 03:28

I really like it.

On days like today, it's like wearing a hair hat and scarf. I've come to the conclusion that I need a good chop myself.

AugieMarch · 26/07/2019 03:48

I agree the nape needs to be shorter. It looks good from the front, but the back does need fixing as it's much more older woman than 26 year old! If that's sorted it'll definitely be fleabag-esque all around (the front already is)!

Gottoloveabagel · 26/07/2019 07:10

I'd go back (or elsewhere!!!) and get the back styled again. I think once shorter it will look better!

Of course this will take longer to grow out but it might grow out more nicely! (I have no evidence for this so could well be wrong!)

HaircutHmmmmm · 26/07/2019 14:28

So I went elsewhere yesterday and got it tidied up (mainly the back part, the front is pretty much the same)! I'm much happier now and the shortness is actually kind of growing on me. The hairdresser was bemused at what the irate guy had done though.

Anyway, lesson learnt! If you don't feel comfortable or thy the hairdresser isn't getting your vibe, JUST LEAVE!!

The photos attached are of today's hair. It's not really "styled" there, I just scrunched a bit of mousse into it and let it air dry, but I think you can see that the cut is much better!

Looks good!

hugoagogo · 26/07/2019 20:35

Yup much better Smile
In the first picture there was this lump of hair at your neck, that didn't seem to belong.
Where can I find these scissor happy hairdressers by the way? I have to beg mine to actually remove hair.Confused

GrabbyGertie · 26/07/2019 20:36

That looks really nice now.

peachgreen · 26/07/2019 20:38

So much better OP. The front and sides were okay before (and yes, very Fleabag!) but the back was a disaster. Lovely now.

Beautiful3 · 26/07/2019 23:38

Wow looks even better now op. Fabulous.

EarringsandLipstick · 26/07/2019 23:54

I like the second cut at the back, definitely better shape but you've lost the choppiness at the front which was cool (& yes Fleabag)

It looks a bit flat now sorry, & needs volume & styling for sure.

I'd suggest letting it grow a bit as it's v short & then re-styling at the front.

But I'm glad you're happier!

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 27/07/2019 00:43

I think it looks nice. If the part at the nape is bothering you, get that part specifically cut.
I had an absolutely horrendous haircut two weeks before Christmas. Cut my hair far too short and thinned it out but somehow left the bottom bit longer. It was a mullet. I had two choices: change my name to Nigel or get the bottom bit cut. I went for the latter (with a different hair dresser who was under fierce instructions and who really listened to me). She barely took any off but just enough to balance it and make it less Nigel-y. I do not think you look Nigel-y, BTW. But I think get the bottom fixed if you feel the same over the weekend.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 27/07/2019 00:44

Gosh I'm sorry, you did go somewhere else. It looks gorg! Made up for you. Will also rtft in future!

FreddiesMammy · 27/07/2019 00:46

It looks lovely, and it’ll only be a month or so before it’s back to usual if you dislike it that much

HaircutHmmmmm · 27/07/2019 07:04

Thanks guys! She left the front more or less the same (just I don't have it tucked behind my ear in the second set of photos!) and took off the funny mulletty bit :D and tidied up some of the messy layers at the back. It's actually growing on me now! Anyway, as you say my hair grows fast so it'll be a bit less shocking in a couple of weeks anyway :) thank you all for cheering me up and telling me to get it fixed, I'm so much happier with it now!

Some moose on your roots

No. I think a moose will flatten it more. They’re such big animals. 😂

AlexaAmbidextra · 27/07/2019 12:07

I learned my lesson when my regular hairdresser cut my hair while telling me about her husband’s recently discovered affair. The moral of the story is, never let an angry person near your hair with scissors. 😱

Greyhound22 · 27/07/2019 14:42

I thought Fleabag straight away!

I like it. It's just a bit flat as you've let it dry on it's own. I'd get something like Sebastian Thickefy Foam and give it a bit more oomph.
