Has anyone taken Norethisterone during their period and it's stopped the bleeding?

Hi all, posting here for traffic.

I had the copper coil fitted on 28th June towards the end of my period but the bleeding never stopped.

The Dr prescribed me Norethisterone yesterday so I've been taking it 3 x day since then. The bleeding is lighter but hasn't stopped.

Is it likely to stop or am I going to have to accept that this is it? Hmm

I've just started seeing someone so it would be nice to be able to get a bit closer to him some time soon!

I have the implant so keep Norethisterone with me when I go on holiday (as I never know when a period will happen).
On the occasions that I have used it, my period has stopped within a few hours of starting the 3x a day instruction.

I will say that the period seems to be heavier, with more bloating & pain, when I stop taking the pills (kicks in about 24 hours later).
I have no experience of taking it with the coil, but Noresthisterone is supposed to stop all bleeding so it may be worth calling your doctor's & asking them to confirm.

Yes but it works best if taken before bleeding starts. Downside was that following periods would be much heavier so I stopped using it

My DD came on early whilst travelling to go on holiday last year. She started taking it and it did stop her bleeding by day 3.

Thanks for your replies. This gives me a little bit of hope. I'll leave it until friday and if the bleeding still hasn't stopped I'll call the Dr.

I got the copper coil because I don't react well to hormonal contraceptives but if they're giving me progesterone to stop the bleeding I may as well to back on the pill. Oh the joys of being a woman Hmm

I've just had tranexamic acid for four days and it really stopped the flow within a day. Mine was because of a reaction to cerazette pill and I've been flooding for ten days straight. Might be worth trying if that ones not agreeing.

Thanks Kanga I've had tranexamic acid before and it made little to no difference. The Norethisterone is better but I'm still bleeding. If it carries on I think I'll just have to have the coil removed.
