Well that isit really.
Ds aged 18 had a ptessure test at his eye test today and it was "above " what it should have been ..
They did the pressure test as he had not been feeling well .
At 18 they do not normally do it .
Thanks

No idea about what prompted the test, but keeping an eye on IntraOcularPressure isn't a bad idea. Especially now it can be quickly and easily done with the "puffer".

Any family history of diabetes or glaucoma ?

My optician started "poking me in the eye" as he put it when I was just 30 thanks to a family history. So pleased he did as I got a massive early warning when I started getting glaucoma.

What was the reading OP?

I’d do it if there were symptoms/signs to suggest it may need doing.

Oh thank you for replies. 24/25 in the eyes.

sounds a tad high, but they keep changing the numbers.

When I was first DXd, I was 22/24 which was under 28 so within limits. However I think they'd like to keep it closer to - if not under - 18.

That said, they've also told me that fluctuations aren't a good thing either.

Best advice to OP is to quiz the Ophthalmologist and get a referral to a specialist if they advise.

On the plus side, it's unlikely to be anything to worry about at that age.

That is relatively high, although sometimes you can get a high reading due to having thick corneas.

I’m sure he’ll get referred and get it sorted out either way. Please don’t worry though.

Thabk you again for your replies.
Ds had been unwell since coming back from holiday so optician decided to do all the tests
He has been referred but it has ti go via GP

which could take long
