How do I find out the NHS are no longer funding an item?

Last week I was told that a specialist medical garment I have on prescription has been discontinued. I have left a message for my consultant about a suitable alternative as the GP doesn’t know which to give me. But I can see it listed on the manufacturer’s website (a global site) with links to where to buy it.

How do I find out if it is available, just no longer on the nhs?

Email the manufacturer - they'll be able to tell you what the situation is and whether you can buy privately.

In case it helps, I've been trying to buy a compression glove/sleeve and they were so expensive. Turns out the hospital where I had had a custom made one years ago could make them for me remotely, and only £50 for a half sleeve full custom with zip

Contact the manufacturers customer services and ask if they are still making it. Who told you it was discontinued? Your GP or a pharmacist might be able to tell you if it’s still allowed on an nhs prescription.

It’s compression I’m trying to get. It appears you can buy it privately but it’s about £300 per set. I need two sets.
My GP had the receptionist ring me to tell me.

I'd wait for the consultant to tell your GP what to prescribe then! My glove/sleeve would have been £200 from a manufacturer, but the QVH in East Grinstead do everything bespoke so much cheaper. Though it is very much medical device beige.
