Would you try to get your driving licence if you're pregnant?

Every time I took the test and failed, I would get a knot in my throat of anxiety. My husband still thinks I should try to get my licence (he tells me to just relax) but now I'm pregnant. Would you still bother or would you wait? I'm just wondering if I should take on the stress of it.

Yes absolutely. There will be no time for lessons once you have a newborn! And having no transport when you have a baby will be very isolating and a massive pain.

Go for it. If you fail you fail but definitely try. Smile

Took me four times to pass, you have to keep going!

I passed mine at 6 months pregnant after a couple of previous failures. Believe me it will be difficult once the baby arrives. If you get it out of the way now you will be mobile and independent on your maternity leave which is not something to be underrated.

I was taking lessons up until I was 38 weeks, I had a few months break and then passed my test. It was really difficult to do it after dd was born. I wish I'd done extra lessons while pregnant and got it over and done with.

It's definitely doable :) I started lessons when pregnant and had my test but unfortunately didn't manage to pass before I got too large to comfortably drive. It was stressful but I'm glad I did it. Eventually passed (automatic) after a hiatus when my child turned two.
My advice would be not to put yourself under too much pressure though.

I passed my test when I was pregnant. I had to warn the instructor I was suffering from morning sickness. Think he was grateful that I was fine.

I was doing driving lessons when pregnant with twins until I couldn't fit behind the wheel! So I had to stop and passed my test 3 months after they were born!

I took my test and passed 1st time 8 months pregnant. I didn’t even think pregnancy has any influence on it, learned and was ready to drive whilst pregnant and knew I will need to use a car once kids came along. Otherwise I’m not sure I would have bothered with driving at all. Just do it and get it done and over with.

There was no point for me. We can't afford to run two cars and I couldn't drive my partners car

TwistyTop · 23/07/2019 13:40

Definitely do it now. You'll be so glad that you can drive once the baby comes. And I can't even imagine what a pain it would be to do driving lessons with a new born at home.

SleepingStandingUp · 23/07/2019 13:40

For me the stress is too much, and the thought of having an accident because I can't drive is just too much. I intend to look at lessons once the babies are a few months old

Not pregnant but I passed in an automatic after seven years of stop-start lessons due to anxiety. It's a game changer - you can just focus on the road because you don't need to worry about the clutch and gears.
