..is your spouse entitled to half the money?

This is a very light hearted question in reference to my recent situation and the fact I've bought a ticket Grin

Get the divorce ASAP. You have six months to claim the winnings so claim after finances are sorted out

HeadsDownThumbsUpEveryone · 23/07/2019 09:39

Yes because you are still married so the money will be a marriage asset. I've seen cases where even when divorced an ex husband or wife was entitled to a share of the money.

Gotta nobble the ex first.

Then when you are divorced, use the line he has used for years so if the numbers come up he would have to legitimately share the prize fund with you.........guess how I got my numbers sorted 😂

I was told by a solicitor that let’s say my husband Separated, inherited money, I wouldn’t be entitled. My husband hasn’t inherited but I was very surprised by this. Absolutely no point in bumping the mother in law off then Grin

I think if you are legally seperated then your winnings are safe ?

When my ex and I separated, we were advised to get a Financial Order in place before the Decree Absolute (but after the Nisi) so that if one of us won the lottery or inherited a fortune, the other wouldn't be entitled to a share. Until the FO was in place, everything would still have to be shared.

Assets are shared whoever's name they're in.
