Help me, I wish I'd never seen these back packs. I saw them on holiday in London but, even though I hadn't come across them before, I could tell they were a fake of a good make iykwim
I wish I'd never seen them. They cost a fortune and were aimed at school kids originally but I really want one
How can I tell, other than the price tag, if they are copies and does anyone know if they are worth the £

My 13 year old DD has a real one.
She put it on her birthday list last year. Thank heavens a doting Uncle bought it for her!

Helenluvsrob · 23/07/2019 12:10

Got a genuine one from John Lewis. It’s great. Bit it price matched when Cotswold outdoor were doing 25% off but didn’t have the colour I wanted.
Cotswold seem to have a rolling 20-25% off that rotates round brands / ranges

Has anyone heard of this company. Any thoughts on it being genuine?

I have one that I purchased to use as buggy bag. I am very happy with the look of it and I like the fact the zip opens on three sides, which makes easier to look for something inside.
However, the flap over the zip is super annoying and keeps getting in the way.
I will not re-purchase sorry:(

StoorieHoose · 23/07/2019 15:24

DD got a real one for high school last year and it looks great considering the amount of use it has had.

She wants a different bag this year so I'm taking the Kanken for me to use.

Hollycatberry · 23/07/2019 15:36

ASOS sell them and occasionally have a 20% off event a few times a year.

I have real one and honestly it is the most comfortable backpack I have ever owned. They don't look like they would be, but they are. I carry my laptop, lunch, waterbottle, chargers and sometimes a cardi or jacket in there. Never hurt my back unlike some other rucksack styles. Worth the price in my opinion especially as I use mine daily.

Hairyheadphones · 23/07/2019 15:38

Urban outfitters sell them and they currently have an offer if you download the app you get a certain percentage off.

I have one and absolutely love it, had it for a year and still looks great.

LynetteScavo · 23/07/2019 15:54

I'm considering getting one for myself...

DD desperately wants a 17inch one in Royal Blue to carry her laptop in. Except they are sold out everywhere.

It was supposed to be one of her birthday presents, so if anyone knows where I can get one (I don't trust Amazon not to be fakes) I'd be very grateful 😊

Noloudnoises · 23/07/2019 16:13

@Hollycatberry which one do you have? I need one with padded straps and room for laptop but ideally want external water bottle holder on the side which some look like they have but no mention of it?

Hollycatberry · 23/07/2019 17:19

@Noloudnoises mine is the classic in navy but colour wise looks v similar to this grey one on ASOS, where you can see the side pockets.

The two side pockets are slim but I can get my fold up umbrella in one and then my metal small Swill bottle in the other without impacting the inside space too much. The straps are webbed not padded which may be an issue for you? I find they never dig into me though. The back of the bag is padded due to the seat pad which fits in the back divider. My laptop is the bog standard dell issued one, prob a 15inch screen and fits in fine. If you have a bigger laptop I’d check the dimensions!

wizzywig · 23/07/2019 17:23

I bought mine from Urban Outfitters. I love it. Very sturdy and holds loads of things

NavyBerry · 23/07/2019 17:26

Waste of money. Got a genuine one. Light bright colour. It stains immediately and it is impossible to clean it! It even gets stains from my jeans! I have used it occasionally for less than half a year and it already has a hole in it! Such a waste

fishonabicycle · 23/07/2019 17:28

I love mine! Fits loads in, is very light and comfy. I carry loads of stuff to work with me so a good back pack is important. Worth paying for - if you hunt around you can often get certain colours a few quid off.

fishonabicycle · 23/07/2019 17:30

And I've used it for a year and it doesn't look used at all.

stepup123 · 23/07/2019 17:48

We have two - I absolutely love them. They're much more comfortable to wear than my other backpacks.

WeeM · 23/07/2019 17:51

I love mine-super comfy and fit loads in. Set up an alert on Hot UK Deals app for them and an offer will come along-I got mine for £40.

LittleG69 · 23/07/2019 18:06

@Hollycatberry which bottle do you have please? I’m looking for a bottle to fit in the side pocket of mine. Thanks!

WeldMeDaphne · 23/07/2019 18:14

I got one a few years ago and I was pretty disappointed tbh. After all the hype I could not understand how that translated into what I had. It was crap for work- no real separation for stuff and I didn’t like the look in reality nearly as much. I picked up a random backpack on amazon for £15 and it lasted brilliantly, was super comfy and looked better 🤷‍♀️

AlpenCrazy · 23/07/2019 18:19

DD got a Kanken from Urban Outfitters last year. £20 off for joining their mailing list.

I paid £30, she paid the rest as she really wanted it.

She still loves it and it fits a surprising amount in.

IfIShouldFallFromGraceWithGod · 23/07/2019 21:04

Surfdome is the cheapest I found. They are nearly all discounted and all colours and an extre 10% off with the extra10 code
£61 and free delivery

Am I literally the only person on the planet who doesn't get the hype at.all.

TheInebriati · 23/07/2019 21:13

I don't get the hype, they are just nylon backpacks. 12 years ago I bought a Jeep backpack. Its still going strong. It doesn't look brand new but you'd never guess how old it it. Its got wide padded straps, and reflective panels that look white in the daytime.

AuntieGT · 23/07/2019 21:13

I got two fakes from a well known online retailer recently after seeing a friends one. I love them. It’s actually well made. I can’t see it falling apart any time soon although the zips may go I guess. I honestly can’t really tell the difference. I do think the genuine ones are ludicrously overpriced for what they are.

Hollycatberry · 23/07/2019 21:25

@LittleG69 I have a S’well bottle! The smallest size fits perfectly, although it doesn’t hold loads of water. Mine was a gift but they sell them in John Lewis. The next size up may fit as they have a slim profile, but you may need to try it out!

LittleG69 · 23/07/2019 21:57

Thanks @hollycatberry
