I wondered whether anyone on this forum has had incontinence surgery with a mesh or sling and later got pregnant?
I had surgery for stress incontinence that meant I could no longer run. The surgery was 5 years ago and I was told I should not have any more children after it.
Since then there has been a huge scandal about the complications from mesh/slings for incontinence and the surgery is banned. I’ve got away with only some pelvic pain.
I’ve just found out I’m accidentally pregnant. I’ve seen the GP who says I should be fine as long as I have a c-section but I’m worried as my pelvic pain is already worse, I feel like I have been kicked hard between the legs. I’ve googled and read of women with no problems who accidentally got pregnant after mesh surgery and the pregnancy stretched and broke the mesh and caused untold damage.
I’m aware the internet is full of the most dramatic stories not the boring ones. Does anyone here have experience they can share?
