If presented with a map of Europe could you name the countries?

Just being curious as at a recent gathering many university and phd educated people couldn’t.

Here's a mnemonic aid I created for remembering Scandinavia and heading south down some of Eastern Europe:

Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova becomes:

God i am useless at geography. I just cannot remember which country is where no matter how hard I try (except for the outside ones). I think I have a problem of some kind though, because even in my own area I sometimes struggle with where one place is in relation to another. And I am not thick I promise. I have 25 degrees 12 Masters and 5 phds, like every other mumsneter

Well thanks to @spuriouserandspuriouser I am now proud to report that I got 100% on the sporcle world quiz - I am also several hours behind on work I was actually meant to be doing. Grin On the plus side, I keep on noticing where things come from (Bananas - Costa Rica, Grapes - Israel) and picturing it on the map rather than just vaguely knowing the area.

I've always loved knowing where places are - always had a globe as a child and used to read about the countries of the world for interest. I did the same for my children and they are pretty knowledgeable about geography too. None of that came from school.
