Anyone else's DC not like holiday club?

Just dropped DS off for the first day of the holidays. He hates going! I've tried a few different ones but he hasn't liked any of them. When I ask him why he says he just wants to be with me. He's 6. He enjoys going to school and has never made a fuss about going there so I don't know why he doesn't like the clubs.

I don't have any choice really, I'm a single parent and have to go to work. I just feel so guilty imagining him having a horrible time there!

If it makes you feel any better my dc will be with grandparents when I'm working over the holidays and they're protesting about going there! Its just that they would rather be with us isn't it? Mine are old enough to understand that if I don't work I don't get paid so I have to to enable us to go places/ do things when I'm off.
Hard though. I'm sure he's fine when he's there.

Sometimes they did one day a week over holidays.
Young dc prefer to be with parents, days out isn't really a consolation to young dc I didn't find.

Mine! I try to send them to the same ones as a friend if possible as they find it more bearable then. Unfortunately this year most of their friends seem to be with parents/ grandparents so only a 3 day overlap out of 2 weeks. I have to work though, so we have no choice.

mine hates it, and to make things worse it's the same one she goes to before and after school during term time. She didn't used to hate it, I think she's just sick of going.
