Does this look like oral thrush? (Gross mouth pic warning!)

Posting here for traffic.

I have very severe asthma so use 2 steroid inhalers, frequent courses of oral steroids and I've had a chest infection so just finishing a course of clarithromycin.

My throat has been killing me since Thursday eve and I've had a fever on and off since Friday afternoon. Today eating has been really painful, and I just took a quick look in my mouth and spotted this weird spot. I assumed it was thrush, but I tried to wipe it and it didn't wipe away. Won't be able to see the GP for a few days, so I'm wondering whether it's worth just getting something from the chemist first thing tomorrow.

Does this look like thrush? I've been on high dose steroids and steroid inhalers for years now, but I've always managed to avoid thrush. I think my immune system is a bit out of whack atm, I generally feel rubbish most days!

They look like ulcers, but I normally get them towards the front of my mouth or on my tongue.

I use Anbesol liquid and cotton buds

Sleep and a good mutivitamin cure mine.

How ar you doing? Have you had it checked yet?

They look like ulcers to me too. I use inhalers and have had oral thrush in the past - if it's thrush it's more like all over the tongue and inside my lips - really gross but easily removed by mouth brushing and mouthwash especially Corsodyl, which is really good IME.

@picklemepopcorn I didn't manage to get to the pharmacy yesterday, but saw the asthma nurse this morning who called one of the GPs in. He had a good look, lifted my uvula up with a tongue stick thingy and said the back was covered in white spots! He's almost certain it's uvulitis (which I'd literally never heard of) It explains the lump in my throat and general illness too. The white spot that burst was probably a gross little pocket of pus Envy

Ew! Hope the ABs drive it away soon!

Me too! I'm bored of being ill now.
I'm having some blood tests done to check there's nothing else going on because I have been ill so much in the last 18 months and constantly exhausted. Think they're checking thyroid, B12 and the usual fbc, liver and kidney etc. Oh and also my parathyroid levels because my mum has hyperparathyroidism which can be hereditary and makes you feel lousy.

I was like this for the last few years. They eventually found underactive thyroid, low iron, low VitD and then we added peri menopause to the mix. Once everything had been treated I still feel lousy, with added pains, so it's fibromyalgia. Hey ho. Hope they find something manageable for you, OP!
