Leaving husband, in London. Where to live?

I work in Stratford and ideally would spend less than £1300/mo for a 2 bedroom. Where would you live? My DC is nursery age.

For various reasons I'd rather not go too far out and I'd prefer not to add substantial train fare to my budget.

Hi OP, I’m looking at 2 bed rentals east of Stratford at the moment. You can find some 2 beds in Leyton(stone)/Wanstead/Forest Gate within your budget, but fewer nice-looking places. There’s lots more choice if you’re prepared to go out to Snaresbrook, South Woodford and Woodford, and they seem family-friendly. Not going to be more than 15 mins on the central line to Stratford.

Alternatively you could look along the crossrail line, so Manor Park, Ilford etc. A lot cheaper but I don’t know the areas to live there.

I too would look at South Woodford, Snaresbrook, Wanstead.

You could look at Leytonstone but schooling would be better in the other areas and they have nice shopping/parks etc. Easy commute too on Central Line and bus.

Upminster is nice too, I live there now, was in the areas I mentioned previously but it's a much longer less straightforward commute to Stratford.

Thanks, this is helpful. All of these suggestions are along the lines of what I had already been considering, so it appears maybe there aren't any nonobvious areas I have overlooked! I truly can't believe how expensive everything is.

What do people think of Walthamstow?
