There is no food in the house!

This is a phrase I hear alot in my house. I have just gone through my freezer and there are about 6 whole meals that I could cook with needing only a few bits of veg to complete them. Lots of snacks, just not the ones they want!
The other day DH declared there was nothing for breakfast because we had no sliced bread and only half a pint of milk.
I made the kids cheese quesidillas, I had omlette and DH had cereal.
There is plenty! It just needs some imagination.
Anyone else get this? I am constantly shopping because I am told there is no food but actually we have more than enough!

Usually I say this when I mean there is nothing nice to eat. Thee is food but not what I want.

Here too! 'What is there for lunch?' When there is cheese, ham, eggs & salad in the fridge and bread in the cupboard. But no, they don't fancy any of that. Mine are teenagers so I just leave them to sort themselves out, I certainly don't rush to buy more food.

I have weeks where I try and empty the freezer by planning the shopping around the food I have, same with pantry - makes for much cheaper shopping bill

"there's no food in the house" usually means "there's nothing I can't eat right this very second cos I can't be arsed to cook"

Dd17 is currently staying at her bf's and has suddenly realised what having no food in actually means.

My DS would rather starve than actually make himself something 😂😂 Unless it goes in the microwave he’s not interested.

Yes DH always says this when I haven't meal planned and it's his turn to cook. There's always eggs, frozen meat, lentils, pulses, tinned tomatoes, rice and pasta and a fridge packed with veggies!
