DH is taking our DTDs (13) out for the day next week. Shared interests include science, sci-fi, Marvel, sporty stuff. Anyone got any recommendations in/around Birmingham, Bristol or Cardiff? We’re equidistant.

TIA

How about the Bear Grylls challenge at the Birmingham NEC? They’ve got some offers on at the moment.

We the Curious is a science museum by Bristol Harbourside. It’s expensive - but very good. Immediately outside they have a temporary outdoor roller derby rink are over the summer - bookable by sessions. Within walking distance you have the M Shed (free) - a museum of the history of Bristol and in the other direction up Park Street (big hill) the Bristol Museum & Gallery (free) which has art, Egyptians, dinosaurs, crystals etc.

Mine are still children but Bristol aquarium, play in the fountains and a luxury ice cream is a good way to keep mine happy.

The Escape Rooms (think it was called escape live) in Birmingham was excellent. There are about half a dozen different rooms of which there are two rooms that are for age 10 plus. We did one of them with a 10 yr old and a 16 year old and we know a family who did the other. Highly recommend / had fairly high hopes but it surpassed my expectations.

The room we did was Science “themed”. Forgot to include that in my post - sorry!

ThinkTank in Birmingham and the Planetarium is really good.

Sealife and Lego might be a bit young? I enjoy them at 38 though 😬 there are food places in between as well if you do both of those.

Bristol also has a cat cafe and a Forbidden Planet which our DD loves on a day out

An Avengers Station has recently opened in Cardiff. White water rafting in the bay.

EvilTwins · 19/07/2019 22:18

Thanks all. Avengers Station is definitely a winner - hadn’t heard of it but it looks perfect!

Good mountain biking trail and bike hire at Ashton Court. You could park on the Downs, do the sliding rock, camera obscura and walk across the suspension bridge to Ashton court.

I notice online is a new swimming pool with lots of flumes in Cardiff, not been there though.

Ours like the boat taxi in Bristol from temple meads to the centre. The one with teeth like a shark.
