It was clearly started as a joke but since going viral over 1.8 million people have RSVP'd the event and I'm sure at least a few hundred idiots will be turning up and making a nuisance of themselves. The local hotel has been fully booked for the night with guests quoting the event as the reason for coming.

People are clearly going to get shot, aren't they.

Area 51 has existed for years...yet now all of a sudden people want to raid it

Considering the government have said they will shoot if they need to, it looks like some idiots are going to get hurt

For anyone who's unfamiliar with the story, a bloke behind a meme page made the event in jest, suggesting they group together and charge through area 51 to see what's inside, the event has gone viral and apparently 1.8 million people have said they will attend.

Obviously the vast majority of people who have RSVP'd the event will be taking the mick, but there's always some numptys that take a joke too far and will turn up causing a scene.

I've heard snippets about it all week but looked into it a bit more this afternoon and the US air force are taking it seriously.
