Best way to get food stains out of white clothes?

I'm struggling as a new mum and weaning my baby and just finding food stains get everywhere! I have no idea what is the best way to get food stains out of clothes?

I would be grateful for any helpful tips thank you!

Hang it outside in the sunshine?

I found DS's white, school logo'd polo shirt with a chilli stain on it the other morning. Treated it with Vanish and washed it, but stain was still there. Hung it outside in the sunshine for several hours and it completely disappeared. Same yesterday, strawberry stains magically bleached out in the sun.

It also used to work on his reusable nappies. Nasty, bright yellow breastmilk-poo stains used to completely disappear.

Sounds great thank you I will give that a try!

Washing up liquid or household soap rubbed into the stain before washing with bio powder

Agree with vanish, also if you put the clothes on a window sill the glass seems to make the sun effect extra strong!

If it’s white stuff napisan is great

Thanks all! I'll have to try the products recommended as I don't have the best outdoor space to hang things!

Sunshine is amazing.

I live in Scotland and even just UV rays in a cloudy day work

divafever99 · 18/07/2019 16:06

Rub Milton tablets on stain then leave to soak - only use on whites though.

Washing up liquid
Napisan
Washing powder rather than liquid
Line dry in the sun

you learn something every day, had no idea sun was a great whitener

Feed them naked!

Just hang in a window. If it doesn’t get the stain out completely, dampen it again and re-hang.

Don’t tumble dry. It will set the stain.

Never heard of napisan , can you buy it at the supermarket?

NeverGotMyPuppy · 18/07/2019 19:12

Honestly I follow most of these and his clothes still end up stained. I am going to have to bin so many of them.

I feel your pain! I hate weaning!

sheshootssheimplores · 18/07/2019 19:18

Yep, sunshine.

Lucked · 18/07/2019 19:23

The sun is great, especially for tomato sauces. I am in rainy Scotland and even lying it next to a window works

AngelaJ18 · 18/07/2019 19:28

yes, noorqt napisan is available in supermarkets, usually found near the Milton sterilising fluid. Two big spoonfuls in a bucket of water, soak overnight then add some to the washing powder and line dry in the sun.
