Hi there I will be visiting London for a few days early next week. Am wondering how hot is it really/ humid? And any tips if travelling with kids. Thankyou.

It’s about 24/25 at the moment, with slight humidity, but nothing major. Comfortable as long as you are dressed appropriately.

However, I see the forecast has it as going up to the higher 20s next week....

What are you planning to do while here?

smeerf · 17/07/2019 19:21

We're zone 2, it's 26 degrees, humid, hazy rather than bright sunshine. Bit sticky but not too bad.

Take bottled water with you, especially on the tube.

babysharkah · 17/07/2019 19:21

It's fine. Agree re water in the tube.

The buses I’ve been on have been unpleasant. The district line tube is fine as air conned, central and northern lines are HOT.

WhatwouldRuthdo · 17/07/2019 19:23

I think the temperature is set to rise next week but it’s really not that hot at the mo. Cloudy and a bit muggy. Avoid the tube in rush hour and you’ll be grand.

Dollywilde · 17/07/2019 19:25

Bit sticky but bearable unless you’re on the Northern or Central lines. Or in my office which is subzero, I’ve basically moved my knitwear collection to EC2. Confused

CatToddlerUprising · 17/07/2019 19:25

Horrible. Buses, central and Piccadilly lines are almost unbearable. Dreading next week

Dollywilde · 17/07/2019 19:25

X-post with @CloudRusting, clearly we have similar commutes Grin

Ivegotthree · 17/07/2019 19:26

It's really fine. Just take water on the tube and wear comfortable shoes.

HermioneWeasley · 17/07/2019 19:26

Tube lines without air con are awful

It’s hot, but no breeze makes it feel more stifling

Bedforaweek · 17/07/2019 19:28

I would stay at GF public transport at any of the busy periods 7am-9.30/10 and 4.30-7.30pm
Tbey’re Unpleasant at the best of times

Bedforaweek · 17/07/2019 19:28

I mean ‘off public transport’

SimonJT · 17/07/2019 19:31

The tube is like being a rotisserie chicken, but out and about the humidity is okay, so it’s not too bad.

soundsystem · 17/07/2019 19:38

Ha I was coming on to say it's fine if you avoid the Central line, but have been beaten to it!

I'm finding it hot and sticky and horrible, but that's because I have to commute at peak times. I'm you can avoid that and wander about sightseeing and eating ice cream then I'd think it'd be fine!

Leftielefterson · 17/07/2019 19:48

My temp in my living room is indicating 24 degrees. I decided to get the tube (central) today instead of cycling for my lunch date, thinking I’d be less sweaty. Not the case. I felt like I’d been boiled alive. I cycled back home and it was lovely.

DerelictWreck · 17/07/2019 19:50

I came on to say fine unless Victoria line Grin love the rotisserie chicken analogy

Moomoo1975 · 17/07/2019 22:28

Thankyou all, we will bring plenty of water and light clothing.
