I’m trying to be the better person but.......

Ordered some football boots for my son.

Used work address as the computer wouldn’t acknowledge my postcode. No problem AT ALL in using work address.

Boots arrived.
And a huge box arrived with sons name on it. I slightly freaked out as I thought I had inadvertently ordered something.
It’s a very nice sports bag.

Delivery note inside for Joe Blogs of Middletown. Wrong address put on parcel.

Rang the huge international company to explain situation.

No apology or anything from company. Instead she said WHAT YOU WILL HAVE TO DO IS SEND IT TO JOE BLOGS OF MIDDLETOWN.

I said that wasn’t going to happen. It’s their fault and I’m not paying for delivery to an address at my own expense. I need the courier to come and pick up.
She said No.

She then spoke to her manager who said they would email a delivery label to me which I would have to print and then take to post office.

I said their customer service was shocking but gave my email address to them.

I’ve received nothing.

I still have the bag.

What would you do? 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

Nothing.

greenwaterbottle · 17/07/2019 14:46

I'd email them to say I was available on Friday eg for a courier to collect it but after that I'd be done trying to sort it.
(And give it to ds for Xmas)

madeyemoodysmum · 17/07/2019 14:50

I wouldn’t do it either

namechangeninjaevervigilant · 17/07/2019 14:50

Do what @greenwaterbottle suggests. You are not responsible for unsolicited goods sent to your home. You’ve been more than accommodating already.

marvellousnightforamooncup · 17/07/2019 15:14

Their mistake, their problem. They need to get a courier sorted asap or let you keep it.

Butterymuffin · 17/07/2019 15:18

What green water bottle said. I would say complain about rude service person again but it's more minutes of your life you'll never get back.

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 17/07/2019 15:23

I believe you are legally responsible for this as it doesn't count as unsolicited goods, but your responsibilities are to keep it in its original condition and to make it available for collection, not to return it to them or post it on.

Soola · 17/07/2019 15:24

Customer service is completely lacking!

I’ve had disputes with three stores who offer click and collect.

I’ve duly paid online and collected the items when instructed.

However, something goes wrong and I get text and emails saying I haven’t collected.

I go instore and I phone up the head office. Instore they are sweet but say just to phone head office. Head office state that their records show I haven’t picked up items and that’s that!

They then refund me saying I never picked up the order!

How ridiculous!

Now my step daughter has had the same and they’ve told her no she must be mistaken.

Quite rude in tone apparently.

RonnieScotts · 17/07/2019 15:57

Do nothing. The ball is on their court.

Shocking customer service.

colourlessgreenidea · 17/07/2019 16:07

How is receiving an item that you didn’t request not ‘unsolicited’? Confused

WhatShallIDo19 · 17/07/2019 16:19

But how long am I meant to keep it for?
It’s a huge box with a sports bag in it.

If I hadn’t rung up they wouldn’t know where the parcel was. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Send them a bill for storage!

Redshoesandtheblues · 17/07/2019 18:33

How long has it been?

LuckyLou7 · 17/07/2019 18:36

Email them once more and request a delivery label. If it doesn't arrive, keep the bag.

Grumpelstilskin · 17/07/2019 18:37

Enjoy the new bag... Grin

stellavisionandunderstanding · 17/07/2019 19:56

This happened to me with a dress from a well know maternity store. In the end I kept it and gave it to a mate.

Pinkarsedfly · 17/07/2019 20:01

Keep it.

NoWordForFluffy · 17/07/2019 20:06

Shocking service.

I once got some poor bugger's trainers sent to me in error by Rubbersole. They sent a courier label and we dropped it off at a shop nearby, I think.

They sent me a discount code to use, so I wasn't too bothered and it wasn't inconvenient as it's on the way to / from school.

LorelaiRoryEmily · 17/07/2019 20:18

I’d just keep it

managedmis · 17/07/2019 21:13

Keep it

WhatShallIDo19 · 18/07/2019 08:49

Thanks everyone.

This happened last Friday.

I’m not going to contact them again.

I will keep the bag.
