What sort of shoes do French kids wear in the hot weather?

Dd 15 is going to stay with a French family soon (South West) and needs new summer shoes. She is taking Vans type canvas lace up shoes. She has flip flops, but do French kids wear sandals? If so what sort?
Thank you!

Ooh, just seen she's 15-maybe not?

They wear the same kinds of sandals that people west in the U.K.

looking for something cool - havaianas or the cheaper equivilent

Trying to get my French dc into sandales is impossible. Vans or converse or nikes with the tiniest of socks. Flipflops or sliders at the beach or pool.

Trainers and van type does. Like most teens here. Rarely sandals. Often jeans too (I break out in a sweat looking at them).

I see many French and Italian teens a day at work and they very rarely wear 'open' shoes, maybe flip flops or sliders. And very possibly some pretty sandals for going out of am evening but even then trainers rule

Whereabouts in SW? I would recommend some water shoes (the hot tuna type ones or similar from Decathlon) if she'll be going to any lakes or rivers

I’ve never seen the French teens in my family in anything except for flip flops or trainers. I’m sure some do wear sandals though.

My goddaughter wears faux Vans (ie Primark), sliders and flip flops. I always buy "dear" flip flops for her when they're on sale and send them over for her birthday.

def not flip flops. they are for the shower not for walking.
the french teens I know wear canvas ballet type flats or trainers or hiking sandals
