Making friends in your thirties and forties

As I’ve moved to a new area of late I’m keen to make new connections and am lucky that I’ve made a couple without giving it too much thought.

Am interested how you made new friends in your thirties and forties and did they last?*

I don’t realistically think I’ll “find my tribe” until oldest DD starts school next August but I start Buggy Bootcamp next week and the last time I did that down in London it got me a few decent chums who I still miss now.

I joined a netball club six years ago aged 46. I've made some really good friends as a result.

Sport does appear to be a big one, I’m just also interested in how true the “making friends at the school gates” thing is as on here it appears to be more of a battleground Grin

I ran a baby group when I was a new mum and made 1 good friend through this and a few friends to meet up with for coffee.

I'd like to know too. Dp and I could do with some couple friends to socialise with. We don't have many of our own friends either Blush

Sports clubs etc doesn't work for us as we work opposite shifts to cover childcare. Our PTA seems pretty social but again we can't commit due to shift work.
