It’s so hard to judge quotes...

How big is your flat/ house and how much is your buildings and contents insurance.

My quote is £358, 3 bed semi. No big risk factors, but a break in claim three years ago

I think about £40 a month. Five bedroom, three storey semi.

MrsL2016 · 15/07/2019 21:53

£230 for the year. 4 bed (extended 3 bed semi), no claims.

fizzyfizz · 15/07/2019 21:53

Just renewed. £190 for the year. Over 10 years no claims. 3 bed semi.

Lovethetimeyouhave · 15/07/2019 21:53

AuntieMarys · 15/07/2019 21:55

Thank you for humouring my boring post!

I think I’ll have a nose around comparisons, just done the car shlep so wasn’t keen

This probably doesn't help as I'm in the US, but we pay about $1,000 a year for building and contents, including things like sump pump failure and freezer failure. It sounds a lot but whenever I've claimed they've paid up with absolutely no questions, and they've made life much easier at stressful times like when we've lost power for a week or the house is flooded. There's no way I'd switch company.

Tbf when we claimed for the break in ours was excellent, no fuss at all

That sounds like a lot. Do you have lots of extras like accidental damage, legal protection etc?

Ours is about £190 pa and is the Platinum version of Aviva I think to cover about £10k worth of bikes. 2 bed semi on a council estate on the outskirts of a city.

Is the £358 the renewal? I bet if you did a comparison, your current insurer would come up cheaper as a new customer as they just bump up the price each year in the hope that you'll pay up without question.
