Hi, I want to take the kids for a bit of a traditional seaside holiday . Hoping for sandy beaches, amusements but also some nice pubs / restaurants . Had anyone got any recommendations ? Would prefer somewhere within 3 hours of South Wales . I know I have left it late in the day to book so any suggestions of nice seaside towns very welcome!

I'd have said Whitby but it's probably too far

I would say Cornwall. Having spent most of my life there I can say the coastline is unlike anything you'd get anywhere else in the UK! Might be a a little further than 3 hours though.

Cardigan Bay, lots of little nice places

Weymouth. Sea a long way out and not very pleasant overall. Try Bournemouth or Sandbanks. Much nicer beaches. Swanage is great too and you have wonderful beaches around Studland. Friends always recommended Beer in Devon so try that too.

Tenby is lovely, we've been there lots of times. Lots of lovely beaches all around too, not just Tenby. Plus lots of caravan sites and things which might bring a variety of accommodation prices and options.

Bournemouth is nice too, long sandy beach and lots to do. Near to Poole, Brownsea Island, not far from Portsmouth and the Historic Dockyard.

We're staying near Weymouth this summer and the beach looks nice, we're also going to the aquarium. We're going for the Jurassic Coast as DH and DD love fossils.
