I've never seen anyone else on MN. Have you?

So I'm MNetting on the bus and the woman next to me keeps trying to see what I'm writing.

It occurred to me that I had never ever seen anyone on MN.

Weird isn't it! Do most people just do it at home? I think it's great for killing time on eg public transport.

Now I come to think of it, I've never seen anyone else MNing! I often look at people and try to assess whether they're an MNer or not.

MyLittlePetitPois · 13/07/2019 13:17

I read MN on my phone when I'm waiting for my son to come out of school. I always wonder if anyone else around me is doing the same

EatingBreadAndHoney · 13/07/2019 13:25

When I viewed my house, the owner was looking at Mumsnet on her phone. I was tempted to say something but I didn't know how it would come across Confused

AIBU to think my viewer is nosey? My house is for sale and the viewer saw me on my phone and said that she likes Mumsnet too, she was meant to be looking at the house not spying what I'm doing on my phone!

I’ve not seen anyone mnetting, but I have met someone

I don’t know if she’s still on here though

CookPassBabtridge · 13/07/2019 13:34

Never ever seen anyone doing it and no-one has heard of it when I mention it, and this is school mums.

Blutopia · 13/07/2019 13:38

I've never seen anyone on it...I'm scrolling through it whenever I've got some down time!

DH and I walked into a large store yesterday and outside were huge netted stacks of fat balls for birds. DH made a remark and I said knowingly, "They are artisan scotch eggs, you should try one."

I swear the woman behind us snorted, but I didn't dare turn and look...

LauderSyme · 13/07/2019 13:46

Never, and nobody's ever said they're a mumsnetter if I happen to bring it up in conversation. I did wonder once if a thread had been started specifically aimed at/about me because some of the details were spookily relevant but decided I was being egocentric.

Ivegotthree · 13/07/2019 16:24

These stories are all so funny. It's almost like a taboo being on MN, probably because none of us want to be recognised on here.

And to the PP who thought the house woman was nosey, I'm afraid I am always fascinated by what ppl are doing on their phones. I read WhatsApp conversations on the Tube over peoples shoulders and I can't stop myself. I am v subtle though and don't think I've ever been caught!

But all this snooping has shown me that everyone on MN is doing it away from me!

I was in here once and someone came on to ask what there was to do around XX place where I lived as she was there with her other half an small child. I suggested a small park/tearoom next to local tennis courts. I was sitting there waiting for DS and lo and behold she behold they walked in (I knew it was her because she said ‘this is the place they recommended on mumsnet’).

I felt almost famous.

Blutopia · 13/07/2019 16:28

I have asked a few friends if they're on it but they are non-committal!

It's like a well-kept secret. Don't say it out loud. If anything looks familiar though I'm trawling through it to see if its about me!

furrytoebean · 13/07/2019 16:31

My sister ALWAYS recognises me.

I name change loads but she can always tell. She says I just type like I talk.

I’ve never found her though.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 13/07/2019 18:33

I found my sister, her username was ridiculously obviously her. I read her comment on a post and thought 'god, she sounds like dsis' then looked at the username and realised it was her.

Obviously, stalked her for a bit. Then I saw her get ripped to pieces on aibu in a post she started, which wasn't very nice to see. I think she either came off entirely or changed her name after that.
