I hate new years... Mostly we go to bed before 12 and have nice lunch the next day. I want to do something more fun this year..
I was thinking of going away to theme park we all love abroad but its going to be incredibly busy there.
So perhaps short few nights away elsewhere but where!

Or theatre on new years eve, we really like mamma mia, perfect upbeat.. But non of us go back to work or school until 6 and UK is so flat after Xmas etc.

Anyone do short breaks or have ideas on not to far place to go...

A few years ago we went to Dublin for New Year and there was so much going on!The festival started on December 30 with a poetry slam, live performances and the spectacular Luminosity light show with aerial and aquatic performers (which ran for all three nights).
It appears that it's starting on 31st this year. On NYE there's the light procession, fireworks and concerts. On New Years Day itself there are more events at the castle, most of which have a sporty theme. Also several pop up events around the rest of the city such as storytelling workshops, beer tasting events, poetry recitals and an art trail.
There was also a food village at the castle for three days with music performances and family entertainment.

That sounds lovely, but I'm not sure the crowds etc would be fun with smaller dc in tow... I would like to re visit Dublin however
