My mum has done OLD. A few misses, and a few nice blokes. And then, aged 65 she met the love of her life. They got married last year, she was 70 and he was 84.

Been with mine 20 years , way back when it was chatrooms.

I just matched with someone on OLD who I met irl last week. The pool feels like it's getting smaller and smaller....

I have two close female friends who met their (lovely) partners online in the last five years. Both super happy, one pair already have two small children!

I joined Match.com on a whim to get some cash back through topcashback, after a couple of dates I received a long message from a guy living in the same place I was due to start a PGCE.

We met up for a date, instantly clicked and have been together ever since! Now we have a nearly 4 year old DD and married!

DH and I met on Plenty of Fish in 2011. It’s got a reputation as a grubby hook up site but I promise it was all above board

We chatted for about a year before we actually got our act together and went on a date. Moved in a year later, married three years after that.

My OLD success is sitting on the sofa next to me. We've been together 4.5 years. I met him when I decided I wasn't going to take OLD seriously and have fun. I also relaxed my criteria. DP is shorter, blonder, less academic and more creative than I originally wanted in a partner but I wouldn't change him for the world.

Met someone, dated for a while. Didnt work out BUT he introduced me to my now DH so in a round about way it worked for me.

Gear to hear these success stories but I think it must have changed for the worse since then.

My lovely niece tried several sites recently and all she got was lots of sleazy messages. She's taken herself off them all and trusting to real life though the opportunities to meet the right person are very few.

Tinder, November 2017. Dark nights, usually in bed by 9. After onslaught of messages I decided to unlike those I wouldn't actually want to meet.

Came to this one guys picture. Thought, if he asked to meet, I'd definitely want to even tho 6 yrs younger.

Met him, the best first date ever. He proposed last sunday.

Met DP on Match. My membership was about to expire when he messaged me. He then suggested the most dire pub in our town. I said yes because he wasn't creepy nor sounded desperate like others contacting me and, well I was bored and lonely. Turned out he was very nice and we now have two dcs and a cat

I have to say, I've had no creepy messages but I've been very serious about swiping... interesting a few people have said to be more laid back.

Guardian Soulmates. Didn't understand how you are supposed to do this stuff. Met after a couple of emails.

More than ten years later we are sat in the garden with a glass of wine. I'm Mumsnetting and he's dozing. We are very happy together, and I can't quite believe my luck that I married the first person I met OLD.

Been with my DP 11 years - we met through OLD. I had almost given up after 18 months of false starts. (In fact, more like 10 years of false starts!)
He is fab - kind, supportive, smart and sexy. Feel lucky every day.

Nov 2015, Tinder. Now have a daughter, a dog, a house. Wonderful.

In total over my 20s and early 30s I probably spent a total of 4 years or so on match/ pof/ tinder to get here. Worth it.

I have to admit though, the idea of four years on Tinder makes me want to throw up. Think I need to be thicker skinned.

I met DP on PoF in 2011. I was 40 then and he was 35. I did actually dump him after a week cos he was too clingy 😂 but we got straight back together and he is honestly the love of my life. We've worked really hard to blend our families and we're still happily in love 8 years later.

There's barely any men my age on Match and they're all on Tinder too.

The first date I went on from My Single Friend is on the sofa next to me. Together 11 years, married 8, 2 kids. OK first date, disastrous 2nd, got it together on the 3rd.

Two more friends are also married to their matches from the same site.

Met 20-odd years ago when it was all chat rooms. Two dogs, two cats and two kids later we're still very happy :)
