Summer surfing holiday class for kids in uk

We have our main summer holiday booked for end of August but I'm just thinking I would like to take the DC away for a few days in the UK. They are 11 and 13 and love things like paddle boarding and body boarding. I'm wondering if there's somewhere in the UK they could do something like a day's surfing class or similar. Anyone done this? Any recommendations?

Where in the UK do you want to go??
Cornwall obviously and there are various surf schools there that should do this. The Witterings, maybe Hayling Island, once again local surf schools exist. Weymouth, ditto.
If on the south coast remember the waves aren’t as good as Cornwall, for example, but good enough for beginners. If Paddleboarding waves aren’t really necessary, unless you want to surf the SUP. We usually take the SUP out on no wave days.

Whitby surf school. Depends on where you are in the country but we were there at half term and the kids loved it!

Thanks for your replies. Don't care where we go so long as I can sit in a cafe while the kids do their stuff Grin I had been thinking South Wales but not fixed. Will look at whitby for a start.

You can do summer surf schools in Tynemouth too. Or further up the Northumberland coast as well. There are some really lovely beaches.

St Ives has a surf school. Newquay probably does as well.

Ooh, Whitby sounds good as you have the benefit of excellent fish and chips!
I remember Praa sands in Cornwall had a good caff overlooking the beach you could chill at ( also has surf school). Avoid Newquay at all costs in summer.

There is a very lovely (but expensive) cafe overlooking the surf school in at Ives. Pembrokeshire is less expensive and just as lovely IMHO

Constantine Bay Surf school in Cornwall. Short walk from Treyarnon Bay YHA.

Seconding Caswell Bay in S Wales - it’s my favourite beach in the whole world, and the surf school always looks fun. There’s a nice cafe there, too!
