Having a nightmare trying to get medical test results, is this normal?

2yo DS had a blood test for coeliac screening 4 weeks ago, ordered by an allergy consultant. We were told to wait two weeks and then call the consultant's secretary to get the results.

After two weeks I started calling his secretary. It took several days to finally get through, and they took a note to ask the consultant to call me. The consultant only works 2 days a week, and they didn't call during those two days. I called the secretary back and they apologised and said they would send the results to our GP to give to me.

I called the GP the next day and they said they didn't have the results, so I had to chase the consultant's secretary down to confirm they had been sent. Then back to the GP who confirmed that actually they did have the results, but a GP hasn't seen them yet and to wait a day or two for them to review it. That was at the end of last week. I left it till yesterday but they still hadn't been reviewed, receptionist said she'd leave a note that they needed to be. Call today, still haven't been reviewed as it seems that the doctor on DS's records has retired and he hasn't been allocated a new one. Receptionist said they'd flag this with the duty doctor today and get someone to call back. When they do call back, it's the receptionist again who says the duty doctor will try and call but they seemed to suggest that as the GP didn't order the tests, they can't give me the results. Which means only the consultant can, and they aren't back in again until next Tuesday...

I know things are stretched but this is ridiculous, surely?
