Live thread: waiting for hair cut, how long should I stay?

I booked myself for a haircut at the salon across from my new office. Seems like a nice place, thought I would give it a try.

My appt was booked for 4:30. I came in about 4:20, said hi, sat down. There's just one guy working atm. When I came in he was just finishing blow drying someone's hair.

I thought I would wait patiently whilst he finished up. Well after the blow dry the haircut began. He keeps answering his phone too. He's still cutting this woman's hair.

He hasn't said anything to me along the lines of, 'I will be 15 min, is that okay?'

Okay, now she's getting a style too.

At what point do I leave?

I would have left by now

ChangesAt30 · 09/07/2019 16:48

I think I'd just have to politely ask..

'Excuse me, I had an appointment booked for 4.30, will I be waiting much longer?'

But then it drives me mad when appointments are running late. My time is precious Grin

Waytooearly · 09/07/2019 16:49

I was rushing to see a client today and I was eight minutes late. I apologised profusely.

I'll give it another minute and then cite an excuse and leave.

Ask if you'll be kept waiting much longer.

Eyre89 · 09/07/2019 16:50

I would have asked too. Wouldn't sit for ages

SpanishTiles · 09/07/2019 16:50

I leave after 10 minutes if no one has offered an apology, explanation and a drink. Rude bastards.

Drum2018 · 09/07/2019 16:51

Don't cite an excuse. If you are going to leave be honest and tell him that you have been left waiting for nearly half an hour without as much as an apology and that it really isn't acceptable. What would have been acceptable would be if he had apologised as soon as you arrived saying he was running late.

Herocomplex · 09/07/2019 16:52

Still waiting?

SushiForAmateurs · 09/07/2019 16:52

Agree, don't give an excuse.

Teacakeandalatte · 09/07/2019 16:53

How's the other persons hair looking. Unless it looks amazing I'd sidle off.

MonaChopsis · 09/07/2019 16:53

I'd be going too. I don't expect hairdressers to be 100% on time but I do expect them to acknowledge my presence and let me know if they are running late!

Waytooearly · 09/07/2019 16:57

Unbelievable! I just said, 'Sorry, I will need to rebook'. He didn't even look my way.

This place opened last month. Good luck with your new business, weirdos!

Review away op!

Waytooearly · 09/07/2019 16:58

Funny you mention, teacake. Bleach blind stacked bob. That was the clincher.

MyOtherProfile · 09/07/2019 16:58

Wow. Do they have a Facebook page? Maybe see on there if you're the only one or if it is quite common.

SushiForAmateurs · 09/07/2019 17:01

You're not actually going to re-book, right..?

RiftGibbon · 09/07/2019 17:03

I would have left after 20 minutes but I would have told them exactly why. And I wouldn't rebook either.

Waytooearly · 09/07/2019 17:13

Of course I am not rebooking!

God how maddening. I hope you knocked over the Kerastase display on the way out.

TremblingFanjo · 09/07/2019 17:44

How annoying!

I am thinking of changing hairdressers after a visit this week when they had no magazines, none at all. I can't be doing with that, and their timekeeping is excellent.

Rivkka · 09/07/2019 18:26

Lucky escape I think.
