Looking for good quality food, so many places do it that it can be hard to tell where is really good.

Any recommendations?

M Cafe by Mamucium Hotel Indigo near Victoria train station. I was really impressed by the value for money.

The Midland is known for having one of the most indulgent afternoon teas in Manchester, served in an amazing setting with a high-class railway café feel.

I haven’t been recently, but the food at the Richmond Tea Rooms has always been good quality. I’ve heard that it’s now all Alice in Wonderland themed, and I don’t know if that’s detracted from the quality. It’s very popular though, so I guess that’s a good thing!

Never been there myself, but Annie’s has repeatedly been the winner of the People’s Choice Award for best tea room in Manchester.

Thanks RiceKrispie!

Yes the Midland was coming up on my Google searches, it looks really nice.

Annie's just round the corner from The Royal Exchange Theatre, is lovely. Great ambience and lovely staff, we always head there.

Richmond tea rooms without a doubt

Annie's or Richmond tea rooms.

Annie’s always gets good reviews, but it’s downstairs and a bit dark, just something to bear in mind. We’ve only been for dinner, well more high tea, pie and mash. That was a few years ago, haven’t been back, I’m sure there are far nicer places for an afternoon tea.
Proper Tea, just opposite Manchester cathedral is nice and very central.
The Midland hotel is probably your best, safest bet.

Slatterys is lovely. But if you fancy something a bit different but absolutely gorgeous try Bridgewater cruises up Worsley canal. The food was amazing, we did it for mothers day and my Grandma (who's 84) said they were hands down the best scones she's ever had. Well worth it!
