48 hours of brownish “spotting”

This is the first time I’ve ever used anything like this so I’m a little nervous about writing but I think I need some more reassurance...
Two days ago I noticed that when I wiped (after having a wee) that the tissue had some brown looking “discharge” on it. There was no pain, just a feeling of being uncomfortable. The day went on and I started to panic so I called both 111 followed by my Dr. The dr didn’t say it’s nothing to worry about but just told me to keep an eye on it and drop a urine sample in when I can. Yesterday the uncomfortable feeling felt a little more like mild period cramping so now I’m thinking it’s everything expanding that is just pushing old blood out of the way. It isn’t transferring to my underwear or anything and I’m trying not to worry (surely if it was something to worry about the dr would have told me) but it’s difficult when she didn’t sound convinced about it being nothing. The advise was to just take it easy. I’m starting to worry again now as this is my first pregnancy but I don’t want to be bothering everyone when there’s nothing wrong...

How many weeks pregnant are you? Have you seen a midwife yet?

Yalmeister · 07/07/2019 10:43

I'm 10 weeks, had my booking appointment 17th June. My scan is on the 5th of August which feels like forever away...the dr I spoke to said that I can call them again if things get worse and they will see about moving the scan closer. Maybe I'm just being overly cautious as I know it can be loads of things that cause it but I'm dealing with this more or less alone as my partner currently lives in America and he won't be coming back to the UK until a November/December time...

I’ve had several miscarriages so I know how worrying it is, but I actually had what you are describing with my healthy pregnancy that followed. Smile Apparently very common for ‘old’ blood to make its way out as everything stretches.

If it turns to bright ‘fresh’ red blood then try & get checked out but it sounds exactly like the spotting I had when I was expecting my DD - and she arrived 7 months later, no problems at all.

Hope it settles down soon and you can relax and enjoy your pregnancy.

Thank you everyone. Fingers crossed it's all going to be okay...it stopped for a little while last night but carried on this morning although the "cramping" isn't harsh or even as severe as a period cramp. So far it all looks old so as long as it stays like that I think we will be okay!

So last night the pain got worse and worse and the blood changed to bright red. Currently in outpatients waiting to be seen as I passed a large clot this morning. There's a lot of blood too. The outcome is inevitable really. Didn't think it would hurt this much though.

Oh I’m so sorry. Flowers Try and rest up and be kind to yourself, it’s such a horrible thing to go through. Do you have anyone with you?

Yalmeister · 08/07/2019 10:55

I’m on my own. My mum is coming from more than 70 miles away so it will take time for her to get here. Was about to have a scan done to see what’s going on and another big “clot” came out but it was a clot. It was my little baby. The physical pain is more or less gone now. Silver linings.
