I am not a tattoo artist, however I know for a fact that there are no qualifications to become a tattooist. Most start as apprentices before they are given their own clients. So you should be seeking advice from an experienced one.

so what is your question, you might as well post it as I could say "yeah, i'm a tattoo artist with 65 years of experience" - how are you going to know

actually why didn't you just open with "does anyone who is an experienced tattoo artist know about x,y,z"

I wanted to know if a tattoo I've had was overworked or if it just healed poorly.

Getting pedantic over wording isn't helpful.

There's loads of heavily tattooed people on MN.
They will probably be able to advise you.

This is the first time I've had this issue with my ink. Before I contact the artist I would like professional opinions really.

Is the tattoo raised? As in, can you feel the linework if you run your fingers over it? That's usually a good indication of overworking.

But yeah, a pic would be helpful. It won't be outing, believe me (18 years in the tattoo/piercing industry).

Who is a qualified tattoo artist? Qualified in what? Post your question (whatever it is- 'I had 11hrs in the chair and now I'm bleeding from the eyeballs/ it's sore/ ink is bleeding/ arm fell off' or whatever it is) and you might get artists or previously tattoo'd posters giving you advice.
