so today dd was walking home and told me her stomach hurt. She pointed to the area around/near to her chest rather than stomach. within seconds she said it had gone. Initially I thought it was because she was aiming to get me to giver her a drink of juice and I had asked her to wait a little. couple hours later and shes sitting next to me eating sweet and says it again. Same place then shes ok.

I'm getting anxiety over it. no history of heart problems with dd but its something that freaks me out as family have had issues (bad lifestyle mainly) but I saw it all as a child so trying to rationalise here.

do i call nhs24 to put mind at rest or what? Its not like she is screaming in pain but just mentions it like she has a stomach ache. in fact she complains more when she has a stomach ache which usually results in loose stools. Just for context of what type of pain she may be experiencing. I thought perhaps heartburn but she has nothing out of the ordinary at all.

I thought heartburn reading your post. I wouldn’t be too concerned especially as she was eating sweets when she was complaining about a tummy ache!

Theworldcouldbemymollusc · 06/07/2019 18:52

Don’t panic. Just keep an eye on her and see if there is anything that triggers the pain. It could literally be anything, wind, virus, constipation.......

sorry meant to say she is 8.

Exactly- could be heartburn.
Heartburn is a weird feeling that could be hard to describe for an 8 year old

LilQueenie · 06/07/2019 19:00

Im thinking heartburn too. I really hope there is no more pain. I've never been one to say it wont happen to me because I know its not true. Anything to do with the heart or brain area sends me into a panic. We already had an issue with her eyes were told they needed to rule out a brain tumour. I didn't sleep for months. Luckily it wasn't that.

Try giving her antacids next time she complains

LilQueenie · 06/07/2019 19:05

Not sure that would help its like she tells me then seconds later shes fine. its only happened twice today and for the first time ever. They did say she had reflux as a baby but it wasn't certain. Only a possibility because they couldn't make sense what was happening at the time

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to say its a one off but take her to the docs for a general check up anyway on Monday with any luck.

Try a glass of water

LilQueenie · 06/07/2019 19:21

Time I got the water the pain would have gone.

It's a normal thing for kids or other people to get occasional aches & pains that don't last long.

ScarlettDarling · 06/07/2019 19:53

Try not to worry. If it's just lasting seconds I doubt very much it's anything serious. It could be one of a hundred things, most likely something like a muscle spasm, wind or heartburn. I'm sure she's fine. I totally get where you're coming from though as a terrible health anxiety sufferer!

53rdWay · 06/07/2019 20:01

Was it very sharp pain lasting seconds? Could be precordial catch (harmless): www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/320105.php

Bluetrews25 · 06/07/2019 20:23

Saying 'chest pain' to 111 will result in ambulance at your door. AFAIK.

LilQueenie · 06/07/2019 23:58

well she has been running around, spinning having a good game of twister too. So far no more pain. I asked again and she said it lasted a while but not sure. That could mean 30 seconds by dds timing. Kind of unsure over time scale now but she only mentioned it the once each time. I assume if it was really bad pain she would keep going on about it till it went away. I also looked online a little. If it was her heart it would supposedly be spread over the chest. If not it could be pinpointed. we can pin point it.

thanks for the replies. I just want to update. the orbs and half orbs have been in my opinion increasing to daily. now she tells me sh saw dots that resembled a flower. they seem to pass in seconds and as she puts it float past in the room. It is worrying but hopefully all will be well and easily sorted.

You were all correct who said ocular migraine. DD is slightly disappointed she didn't need the Frozen glasses she saw on the way in. She passed the test with perfect eyesight. The relief is immense.
