Gimme a kick up the bum with motivation to get some housework done

I really need a kick up the bum to get me moving with some housework.

First five people give me a chore to do please? A Relatively small high priority chore that will make a noticeable difference i.e. don't just say deep clean the kitchen. I don't have time I don't think for a deep clean.

I was out this morning with a friend Brew for far longer than intended then came home had lunch Cake, sat in the garden, and time is drifting fast. Yet no motivation Grin ds is at after school club till 6 and dh won't be home until after then. Living room is a tip, bathroom and kitchen grubby. I have put a wash on but that needs to be taken out, which I will do now. Ideally I wanted a relatively sorted house for the weekend so I wouldn't need to do housework over the weekend Blush

Go round the house with a big bag/box and put everything back in its right place.

Vacuum the stairs (I find that the one thing that makes my house look 'done')

Clean the sink, fill the DW, clear the drainer.

Or set a timer for 5 minutes and do 'hurricane housework' in each of the really grotty rooms. Spray the bathroom first, then do lounge, then go back to the bathroom and rinse/wipe.

Ok I've emptied the washing machine and pegged it outside. I think it should dry in the time left today in this weather.

bear1983 Yes, bin bag/tidy up trawl through downstairs is a good way to start about. I'm on it Wink

I love Brianna K's videos on YouTube.
Really motivational, nothing fancy - she just cleans her house and talks about different products she uses. If you don't like her there are countless other videos. I got into a really good routine of cleaning the whole house every day once it was all done (took a while - I also recommend Marie Kondo for getting the place into a decent clutter free state to start with).
Sounds daft and might not work for everyone but definitely did for me. I actually enjoy cleaning now! Can't wait to get baby out (38 weeks now and so fed up!) so I can get back on it and sort the house out for the rest of the Summer.

I didnt feel like doing housework either. Managed to fix shed, hang three lots of washing out, clean bathroom, mop downstairs and do dc's bedding. Still loads to do and i am sitting here reading your post 😀 and the washing machine has pipped again and the casserole needs starting. Kids are being obnoxious and I feel rubbish and a bit depressed.

Sending you a 🤗

How about tidy up a bit? things always look like you have done a big chore when it has just been tidied a bit.

Clean every door, including the tops.
clean door frames
Clean skirting boards
clean window sills.

Same...this weather is making me feel so lethargic.

I’m useless in the afternoon/evening- I’d tidy round tonight and whizz around cleaving early tomorrow (then reward myself with cake)
