Do you have certain songs that when you hear take you right back to a certain time in your life good or bad, mine is soul 2 soul back to life,it was number 1 in a really hot summer hanging out with my pals taping the charts and playing on our ghetto blasters 😃

Relax by FGTH and Jump by Van Halen. Straight back to first year in 6th form in the nightclubs.

Mine isn't a song but a sound. I was peeling carrots yesterday, and the noise the peeler made on the carrot skin was the exact same tone/note as the cicadas buzzing in the Chinese city were I used to live. It took me right back to summer evenings there.

These Dreams by Heart reminds me of the summer I left school. It takes me back to hanging out with friends in the park and my first love. It actually makes me really sad as the first love didn't last long and the friends are long gone. We all went to different colleges, yts's etc and lost touch.

Careless Whisper is school discos. Strangely exciting slow dances with sweaty boys.

So, I have lots of memories attached to music. It's a sin by the pet shop boys and I'm 9 and buying a dress in a certain shop (that is still there interestingly). The song is on the radio. Common people by Pulp and I'm 18 and dancing with my boyfriend who at that point was the absolute love of my life. We used to go out quite a bit and Britpop was everywhere. Band of Gold by Freda Payne reminds me of the flat i lived in at uni, my flatmate often used to listen to it while getting ready to go out. Bad Medicine by Bon Jovi and 18 and life by Skid Row are my rock club days aged 19/20. All of these were the best times of my life with hindsight and this is why hearing those songs triggers almost painful nostalgia now. You kind of look at your life and think what happened?!
