I love your anytime pass for £6.99. I love that you send me free samples of JD fire and a 250ml bottle of Jameson’s but...

Why do I have 59 coupons to save up to £279.60 but I don’t want to use any of them.

Help me out here Ocado

Is it bad manners to email customer services and ask where my anniversary voucher is?!

I think I’ll ditch Ocado when they move over to M&S as I’m not keen. I love Waitrose but their delivery from the local shop isn’t great. I’ll just have to do my own Waitrose shop and an occasional Ocado delivery for all their world foods, etc.

I do like Ocado own brand stuff as well. Hope they continue with that.

BrendasUmbrella · 03/07/2019 22:50

How do you get these freebies? I've had a smartpass for two years, the only thing I ever get offered is a free magazine!

I feel like I'll enjoy the novelty of M&S food as we don't have one locally anymore, but I would never go to M&S for my regular shop. Plus the cat adores Waitrose cat treats and only Waitrose cat treats (you'd never know she used to be a semi feral living behind some garages...) so I'll have to start buying 10 bags a week in the run up to the changeover...

squee123 · 03/07/2019 22:53

Agreed the vouchers are crap. And also that the switch to M&S is very disappointing. So many delicious Waitrose options whereas M&S is basically all about the glorified ready meals.

@Ontheboardwalk I would recommend Sainsbury’s, they were always on time, not many substitutions (and sensible ones when there were), nice drivers.

The only reason we switched this year is because we got a free pass and quite a lot of money off our first couple of deliveries with Ocado. Otherwise I would happily have continued using them.

RaggieDolls · 04/07/2019 07:33

See, I found Sainsbury's were awful for me. Everything was going out of date in the next day or two. The dates from Ocado are amazing.

I really like M&S food so I'm happy about the switch. I don't buy very many Waitrose products from Ocado though.

sluj · 04/07/2019 07:36

I'm getting free tuna steaks on Friday worth £6.99. Most of the freebies come on facebook and you have to grab the goodie quick using the code on facebook. Just put facebook Ocado as one of your "see first" pages.
I'm looking forward to the M and S tie up but will miss Waitrose.
I went in an actual Waitrose in Cambridge at the weekend and it was curiously exciting. It's amazing what years of on line shopping does to you Grin

SellFridges · 04/07/2019 07:39

The vouchers have been strange recently. At first they weren’t this bonkers. 20p off some £4 crisps on mine this week I think.

On the M&S tie up, it doesn’t start until next year and you can already see the Ocado brand upping their game and some of the Waitrose things disappearing. I think it might be alright.

Candymay · 04/07/2019 07:54

I spend £100 a week with Ocado and never get a free gift!

JamaicaGinger · 04/07/2019 07:59

I've noticed they've already stopped selling some waitrose brand stuff that they used to a couple of months ago - microwave rice as an example, you can only get expensive Tilda or Uncle Ben now. I thought the move to m&s wasn't until 2020 though.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 04/07/2019 08:15

I second the point that if you ring up and say you're cancelling the pass because the renewal price is so high, they drop the price immediately. I think I've done it at least twice now. I genuinely would have cancelled otherwise as 10.99 is far more than I could justify paying per month.

Re end of link to Waitrose - it is next year - September 2020. www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-47383159 Not sure what I'll do then. I buy mostly own brand stuff. Ocado is usually just marginally cheaper than Waitrose but I like having the choice, and there are quite a few things where the Waitrose option is a lot better than the Ocado one. I hardly ever buy food from M&S as we eat very few ready meals and it bothers me how much packaging M&S use.

Coupons crap. Never bother even looking at them.

Flash sales are my downfall. I can't resist a bargain, as my freezer can attest.

Star Reviewer free things - not sure why they started offering these to me, but I've had a few things from them now, all stuff I would never have bought in a million years but am happy to have free of charge. As my reviews all basically say that I'm surprised they're still sending me more. Grin

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 04/07/2019 08:17

Free gift - I've had a free bottle of wine from them every year for over a decade. Nowadays it comes in the form of a voucher valid against certain things - chocolate or wine, I think, last time.

PeriComoToes · 04/07/2019 08:24

Ocado is switching to M&S food Shock

When is this happening? I need to stock up on my Barts peri peri tins as Ocado seem to be the only place I can get them.

I do love M&S food though so am kind of excited about this!

Loveislandaddict · 04/07/2019 08:27

I thought they were selling M and S food as well as Waitrose, not instead of.

Loveislandaddict · 04/07/2019 08:29

Just read the article, it's instead of.

CarrieBlu · 04/07/2019 08:56

@RaggieDolls I never give the use by dates much thought, nothing hangs around in our fridge long enough to go out of date Grin

Xiaoxiong · 04/07/2019 08:57

Yeah but I think they're still selling other brands like Barts and Picard and Hellman's or whatever, it's just the Waitrose own-brand stuff that will switch to M&S own-brand. As far as I understood.

Ontheboardwalk · 10/07/2019 20:27

Right Ocado are doing this on purpose now to wind me up I’m sure of it

Out of my 56 coupons this week that could save me £274.40 I’ve got new vouchers for alcohol free Moretti, alcohol free Peroni and a choice of 3 different alcohol free spirits!

They obviously do not know me as a customer or what I am wanting to buy from them.

OP posts:
PeoniesarePink · 10/07/2019 20:35

I find their vouchers crap too, and as someone who buys mainly Waitrose items through them, I'm really saddened they are going to M & S instead. I'm already dreading having to use Waitrose direct as their stock control is appalling - always available when you order but then substituted when you get the shopping. Ocado are far more reliable in terms of subbing stuff Sad

Ontheboardwalk · 10/07/2019 21:21

peoniesarepink yeah I agree I’ve had very very few substitutions from Ocado and I really like them for that. I tried Tesco for a while and they were shocking

I don’t want M&S food delivering. I drive past a M&S food store everyday and only stop there once every 6 months or so. It doesn’t appeal to me

OP posts:
MitziK · 10/07/2019 21:45

I haven't had any vouchers for months and have never received anything other than a bag of dog food (I buy cat food and litter) and an out of date copy of their magazine as a freebie. The email things are always 'spend more than you wanted in the next 48 hours when it's out of stock, anyway'.

Obviously, £150 a time isn't a high enough spend for them to bother with me.

Meh. That's why DP goes to the mini supermarket around the corner instead now.
