Does anyone else feel/smell gross? How do I sort out by microbiome?

Loka123 · 03/07/2019 21:07

I just hate feeling so gross.. flatulence smelling of rotten eggs, cheesy smelling residue behind my ears, halitosis, vaginal odour, armpit odour, if I scratch my scalp, greasy residue appears under my nails (but hair is very dry), skin has lots of dirty grey residue if I scratch at it.

I feel it is likely to be my microbiome that's causing it. I eat fairly healthy (high protein, fairly low carb and medium sugar intake)..

I know it could be the sugar but tons of people eat more sugar/meat than me and aren't smelling bad.

I drink a lot of water each day, never have soda/crisps, etc. and shower daily. What else can I do? :( Anyone have any personal experience? Everyone always looks and smells fresh as daisies (especially other women)... :(

dont just shower, scrub yourself....i use a good scrubing brush, love the feeling afterwards

AllTheCakes · 03/07/2019 22:11

Switch from shower gel to bar soap if you haven’t already. It really helps the deodorant stick. A decent clarifying shampoo should help with the greasy scalp too.

picklemepopcorn · 03/07/2019 22:14

Increase your flora and fauna by eating live foods- yogurt, blue or other moulded cheese, miso, sauerkraut etc.

You can also seed yourself with someone else's microbiome. Scrub your pits, then put a hanky that they have kept in their armpit under your arm. It will transfer some of theirs to you.

Theirs a guy called Dr Armpit who has good info on it.

Are you sure there is actually an issue, or could you be imagining it? I remember picking at marks on my skin -but there wasn't anything there, really. It was my imagination - or rather my dislike of myself - zeroing in on flaws.

Or is it hormonal changes ,making you feel sweatier?

ByeByeMissAmericanPie · 03/07/2019 22:16

Start taking probiotics. Try Biokult. Get it off Amazon.

Eat plenty of fibre and full range of foods esp vegetables.

Apileofballyhoo · 03/07/2019 22:18

What shampoo do you use? And how often do you wash your hair?

Perhaps you're actually eating too much protein?

QueenBeee · 03/07/2019 22:21

Bimuno and Bio Kult are two supplements you can take. No side effects ime.
I have taken them since my DSis was diagnosed with dementia as biome is thought to affect this.
Or make a point of eating more foods to encourage a healthy gut - see online.

Ivegotthree · 03/07/2019 22:25

I drink Symprove. Not because I smell (😱) but because it has helped my immunity and all round health. I just feel great for taking it.

It's expensive but really good. If you smell and think your gut bacteria need to change, try this.

lolaflores · 03/07/2019 22:27

What's that situation where it's like extensive thrush? Did 8 imagine that?
Vaginosis might explain the odour from down there.

Wheresmrlion · 03/07/2019 22:28

I’ve started taking bio Kult too, got it from boots.

I’ve had an ongoing cold and dodgy tummy since taking antibiotics for mastitis a few months ago and I’m convinced it’s related to the antibiotics wiping everything out.

Only about ten days in but already my tummy is a bit better, might be worth a try.

You can also seed yourself with someone else's microbiome.

Is it not simply a case of seeing these things about yourself that you can’t see in others? You only get a snap shot of other people, and have no idea what their flatulence smells like, or whether they get grey residue if they scratch themselves. I suspect that if you went round scratching and sniffing most people as closely as you do yourself you would find it’s just a normal part of being human.

Exfoliating shower gloves. Scrub everywhere, including behind your ears.

As tempting as it is, do not scratch your scalp. I wash my hair once a week, if I do this on day 5/6 it releases grease into the rest of my hair. Just wash your hair more frequently if you feel you need to.

Perspirex deodorant every few days over night.

Roll on deodorant and spray.

A good face skin care routine including to of.

Gingerkittykat · 04/07/2019 17:00

I'm another one in the camp wondering if you truly smell as bad as you think. Are you getting close enough to other women to smell their farts, behind their ears and vaginas?

Get some antifungal for behind your ears, see a Dr to get a nasty smelling vagina sorted out and see a dentist about bad breath.

Loka123 · 06/07/2019 17:28

Thanks so far everyone for your replies. I've tried clarifying shampoo before and it made my dry hair even worse.. and I didn't even apply it to the ends, just scalp. I have one those odd, greasy but also dry scalps if that makes sense :/

The dr.armpit stuff sounds interesting - I looked it up online as never heard of it before - would be useful if they sold sprays they used in their research as asking people for armpit swabs would just be incredibly awkward lol.

I use a gritty body scrub once a week but still always have dark grey dirt on my neck (I don't think others have it as I have a dark ring on white shirt collars and none of my colleagues seem to).

I've tried biokult but was having diarrhea after taking it (not sure if it was die-off or an actual side effect) as I tried it for 5-6 days in the past.

That’s just the human body isn’t it? We’ve all got one.

picklemepopcorn · 06/07/2019 17:36

Sounds like you may need a gentler shampoo. Start there- it will affect everything else. Look for a sulphate free one, or just use an egg (weird I know) see hoe your scalp feels after a couple of weeks.

picklemepopcorn · 06/07/2019 17:37

This is microbiome in a bottle. motherdirt.com

justasking111 · 06/07/2019 17:44

Second using bar soap rather than shower gel. Different PH may help. Are you peri menopause?

Dowser · 06/07/2019 17:47

Well I’ve heard and done lots of the weird and wacky but I’ve never heard of dr armpit

I’ve heard of reseeding yourself with a bit of fecal matter from a new born baby ... but I’m not going ...There.

Try home made kefir and sauerkraut to put the good guys back

aintnothinbutagstring · 06/07/2019 17:50

Could you be diabetic? Have you been tested?
