What are the chances it’s a fake positive?

Dh had the snip in April but I did a pregnancy test yesterday and got a positive response. Did another from another pack and got the same, then I did a third and got nothing, I think it was faulty as no lines appeared at all.

I think I’m in denial but I would love to hear your stories of false positives.
I don’t have full on morning sickness but do feel a bit queasy on a morning. I was sick this morning but it was while I was brushing my teeth and that always makes me feel a bit vommy.

Someone come and give me a slap please 😆😭

Doesn’t it take a good few months/up to a year for there to be no sperm left? Has he had any follow up tests?

MakeLemonade · 03/07/2019 17:33

False positives are very unusual. Was it a dark line? Had you used additional contraception until your DH passed the semen tests confirming all the sperm had gone?

hormonesorDHbeingadick · 03/07/2019 17:33

Two false positives would be incredible unlikely. Was DH test to check his semen was clear of sperm OK?

Has he had two clear samples? April is so soon I would guess not, so I think the chances of them being false are low.

Were you not earned to use contraception until he had been given the all clear after two samples? Our GP made us have a joint appointment beforehand to make us agree to this, as the majority of pregnancies are exactly as your describe, not using contraception before the two clear results.

Have you actually been using contraception since April? You're supposed to continue using contraception for about 3 months after, until it's confirmed that a semen sample comes up blank for sperm.

If you've had two positives, you are almost certainly pregnant.

Newname908 · 03/07/2019 17:35

This is one of them.
He hasn’t sent a sample off yet but I can guess what it will come back as.

So this is definitely a false positive, yeah?

What are the chances it’s a fake positive?

Sorry, ignore me. It’s up to 12 weeks apparently.

Newname908 · 03/07/2019 17:36

Using condoms 98% of the time 😬

CmdrCressidaDuck · 03/07/2019 17:37

Um, are you listening to us?!

So basically, the two of you didn't listen to the doctors and use additional contraception until he was confirmed clear of sperm? And you've had multiple positive tests? You are pregnant.

Celebelly · 03/07/2019 17:37

Yeah that's not a false positive. That's a very strong positive. You're up the duff.

SpookyMulder · 03/07/2019 17:37

That's 100% a positive

MyDcAreMarvel · 03/07/2019 17:37

I would use a decent brand.

birdling · 03/07/2019 17:37

That is definitely a real positive.

Newname908 · 03/07/2019 17:38

I’m listening I just don’t want it to be true!

OP posts:
Smellbowpenisbeaker · 03/07/2019 17:38

No it’s not. You are very much pregnant.

sacope · 03/07/2019 17:40

Oh wow. 3 tests. 2 positive and one not valid because the control line didn't come up. Yes, you are pregnant.

TokyoSushi · 03/07/2019 17:41

That's a massive positive!!

summerblonde · 03/07/2019 17:44

That's a strong positive test. One of the strongest I've seen on here.

SlipperOrchid · 03/07/2019 17:44

Yes that’s a positive. Do you already have children?

Sorry it isn’t the result you wanted although if you took risks I guess it isn’t such a bad thing for you. I hope so anyway x

Chartreuser · 03/07/2019 17:49

It takes several months for the samples to be clear. So it's not whether the op worked, it's that the puppies hasn't yet been cleared out!

PurpleDaisies · 03/07/2019 17:55
Confused

You can’t really get false positives. You’re pregnant.

Surely you were given advice about when it was safe to stop using other contraception?

DtPeabodysLoosePants · 03/07/2019 18:20

It doesn't get much clearer than that. You're pregnant. Not using contraception 2% of the time is risking pregnancy. You knew that right?

YouWhoNeverArrived · 03/07/2019 18:27

Looks like you're pregnant. This is why it's important to wait for the all-clear after a vasectomy. How are you feeling? Is there someone IRL you can talk to?
