Do I tell my friend the truth?

My friend is selling her house & I've been listening to her excited chatter about the new place she's moving to. I've only ever seen the downstairs of her house & it's 3 floors in total. Today she told me her house had 'gone live' on the estate agents website & asked if I could have a look & critique the pictures. Well I came home and had a look online...ShockShockShock I don't know where to begin. I can't talk about it here because it's very identifying but the upstairs of her house is not what I was expecting AT ALL. It's horrendous. Her taste is certainly very extreme, I've never seen anything like it in my life. I can't believe the estate agent didn't say anything about neutralising it a bit. It'd put me off as a buyer. The thing is she's expecting some sort of feedback from me now.. What do I say? I don't want to hurt her feelings by being truthful & going 'Fuck me what were you thinking?'HmmGrin

Just talk about the photos. As in, the quality of them.

Just tell her people are fussy bastards when it comes to buying houses and they can't see what it could look like in their taste, so it might be wise to tone it down a bit as it's quite "flamboyant".

You could say that some buyers are put off if they think there’s a lot of work to be done, and it’s best to try and keep everything neutral?

Don’t risk upsetting a friend over this.

If her house sells quickly, you’ll just look bitter. Maybe if it’s still on the market after Christmas, then it’s up to her estate agent to suggest she declutters and paints every wall magnolia.

Not every buyer needs bland walls to be able to envision their furniture in the space. Bad taste wouldn’t put me off if I like the space available and loud paintwork s preferable to a dirty house.

Say nothing! The state my house was in when i bought it! Omg.

I think say nothing for the sake of your friendship. Most people will see past dodgy decor and look at it as an opportunity to redecorate.
