Do you drive it on city mode?

My DD has one and rives it on city mode, only does V short journeys to and from station etc

amusedbush · 02/07/2019 15:56

I do but I've never used city mode. I might give it a go, though a quick google suggests it can cause issues to leave it on all the time.

I used to have one but rarely used city mode. I found the handling too light when doing normal driving, I did feel it made parking easier though but maybe that’s just me.

To be honest I find the handling to be very light anyway, I'd be scared to twitch my hand if it was any lighter!

I was told by the dealer that city mode is for turning in tight spaces etc so I only put it on when I'm doing a 3 point turn in a narrow space or something like that. If I leave it on by mistake the steering feels too light but it's perfect for turning in tight spaces, parking etc.

thelonearranger · 02/07/2019 16:36

I only do it in tight spaces if I remember but the steering is light enough anyway so I don’t use it very much

sacope · 03/07/2019 12:56

Thanks everyone, just being nosey really! DD is the FIAT owner. I never use it, but my car is a VW sharan so the steering on the 500 feels so much lighter anyway, DD uses it all the time!

sacope

Google suggests that using it all the time can cause serious faults so warn her against it.

sacope · 03/07/2019 12:57

Google also suggests it doesn't to be fair. It depends where and what you read!

She knows about it; and has chosen to drive with city on, it's not really up to me to try and override her decision.

I drive it with city on, mostly because I have joint issues so anything that makes the steering lighter is better for me. On the odd occasion DH drives it the first thing he does is turn it off.

Usernamealreadyexists · 03/07/2019 17:06

I never switch mine off as I live the lightness if it. No issues after 3 years...
