Just that really, a few years ago they were really common. I saw one today and it reminded me of their existence! Where have they all disappeared to?

They are still around :)
They changed shape slightly ..the new one (453 model) is just as short but slightly wider (and less cute IMO ) but FAR better to drive. I've had several models inc the new one.
They are stopping petrol ones I believe (definitely in the USA anyway) and going all electric. Makes sense for a tiny car.

They are something of a marmite car but there is a huge fan base and a lot of Smart clubs :)

They’re still about Grin

My ds aged 7 loves them and keeps pestering me to get one. He calls them Lego cars because they’re so tiny and like the cars Lego people drive apparently ConfusedGrin

They were pretty unpleasant to drive and the advantage of the size was removed the first time you needed to transport two people and any luggage

avalanching · 02/07/2019 08:17

Perhaps they all killed their owners? Look like death traps to me.

Two people at work have them.
I think it's mostly for single people or childless couples in cities.
Also very similar to the Citroën C1.

They are all here in Cyprus!

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/07/2019 08:48

I’m on my third, dh works for mb so we get them cheap. They do very well in safety tests.

amusedbush · 02/07/2019 08:52

I saw TONNES of them in Paris. There is a new model and it's much nicer than the original, in my opinion. I actually looked at buying one around the time I got my Fiat 500 and would still be tempted in the future.

Pinkwink · 02/07/2019 11:16

Very popular in other European countries still, they’re absolutely everywhere in Paris.

Funny you mention this though, I saw one the other day and thought the same. They were very popular here once too. They look like toy cars Grin.

Haha glad they're still around. I used to live in a city centre with lots of on street parking and was always jealous of being able to back them into tiny spaces

I knew told old blokes st church with one. Was. Hilarious to see two quite large older man wearing full Benedictine habits getting into one.

The C1/Aygo/108 are bigger than the Smart, but not by much. Nor do they behave well outside towns, unless you're small and skinny.
