Help with the title of a children’s book!

Does anyone know the title of this book?!
It was a story about a girl whose brother fell in with the wrong crowd and became addicted to glue sniffing.
It has ‘sun’ in the title somewhere - I think!
It was a Guardian recommended book in the early 90s.
Has anyone heard of it?!

I watched a tv series in the 80s called Break in the Sun, i think it was from a book. The girl was called Patsy. Might be older than what you're talking about though.
