Can someone explain (slowly) how to transfer data from one phone to another?

SO I bought DH a new phone - he had an android Blackberry & is getting a samsung

Samsung says to download 'smartswitch' and that will transfer all his data......but - stupid question approaching - do I download that on the new phone or the old phone and do I move the Sim before I do it or after?

I'm not entirely think - it's just Sunday evening, long weekend, very hot and I'm a bit tired/menopausal!

Download it on the old phone, set up account and log in, tell it to save all that phone’s data. Then download on the new phone, log in and the data will be downloaded from the app into the new phone.

When I got my new phone, I had to download the app on both phones. It uploaded the stuff from the old phone and downloaded it to the new phone.

I think most of them have a tutorial to guide you through it.

Sorry I mean move the SIM after you’ve done the first phone stuff, put SIM in new phone, then do new phone set up and download the app etc

Hi, I bought a samsung a couple of months ago, so here goes.
Download smart switch to your new phone with the sim card already inserted.

Smart switch was a joy after imaginings of having to transfer lots of data across.

I think I downloaded smart switch onto both phones. I don't remember it as being difficult to do, it was quite a logical process just following instructions. I managed to do it without asking anyone tech savvy to help me, so if I can do it you should be able to as well And yes, move the SIM card after.

Why can't he do it? Is it wife work?

We all have our strengths mine is normally IT - his include washing ironing doing the hoovering and the dishes

Again, normally I know which I'd rather however this evening I was feeling a bit confused - it is happening rather more often since menopause!
