Drinking a bottle of wine myself.... Too much?

I don't drink daily and it's mostly at the weekend and on special occasions but when I do I can easily drink a bottle of wine myself. Just wondered if this is unusual?

Depends who you ask! For me, no it’s not unusual but expect a lot of responses telling you it’s too many units, binge drinking etc. MN isn’t the best place to ask for judgement on alcohol use!

I don't think it is. I sometimes will have a bottle of wine on a weekend over the course of an evening, sometimes on my own sometimes with friends.
All in moderation I believe!

How do you feel afterwards? My general rule of thumb is that if I can feel the effects I’ve had too much and should take it easy the rest of the week.

I don’t tend to worry if I’ve had one two many chatting with friends (hangover last week as a friend I hadn’t seen in ages arrived as we were about to leave the pub so inevitably stayed for one (two!) more). There was one point after my marriage broke down when I woke up on a work day with a hangover after wine alone at home and I had to give myself a shake and realise I wasn’t drinking healthily or enjoying it either during and certainly not after.

I can easily drink a bottle. Did it last night actually

I could drink a bottle of red although I’d be quite pissed as I don’t often drink wine. Could drink plenty of vodkas before I felt drunk though.
Dp will often drink a whole bottle to himself on a Saturday night.
In fact, last night he had 4 bottles of beer and 3 quarters of a bottle of wine!

Ten units or so, which is ~5 pints of beer/cider. It's a fair amount, and will mean you may still have alcohol in your system next morning so always factor that into your plans.

It's probably not unusual.
Is it 'too much'...depends what you mean. For your long term health, yes.
