Can anyone recommend a nice(preferably independent) chocolatier?

I'm looking to buy some special chocolates online for a friend. There's so many though. I don't know where to begin. She's always been a fan of supporting independent and small businesses(as am I) so I don't want to go with Hotel Chocolat for her.

Any recommendations would be appreciated. TIA

Cocoa Wonderland is a small independent in Sheffield which delivers if you can't get to the shop. I've ordered from here cor friends and always been well received

I've used Wickedly welsh chocolates before. They have their own, make your own, chocolate factory, but we bought a far amount of stuff to take home too 🙈 was nice.

I like Montezuma’s and Chocolate and Love; both fair trade, yummy and nice packaging, and you can buy online.

There a little one in Moxon Street in Marelybone, independent and very good. Opposite La Boulangerie. A few yards away in the High Street, opposite the book shop Daunt Books, is another chocolatier, cannot remember their name but I think they have 2-3 little shops in the European capitals. Again, very unique.

Both I think are family run and I doubt they make much profit!

I love Chococo in Swanage and will always pop in when we're down there. They do have a website and appear to do delivery although I've never tested this out.

The Oban Chocolate company.

Kennedy's Chocolates. They are a small independent company I found online a few Christmas's ago as wanted something special. My whole family now use them!

You can order online super easy. And the chocolates are to die for.

Rococo in London have some gorgeous stuff online with really pretty packaging. The chocolate sea gull eggs are to die for!

Another vote for Chococo in Swanage...

It’s a small chain, but Artisan du Chocolat are incredible (particularly the salted caramels)

utterflapdoodle · 29/06/2019 17:25

Paul A Young is amazing. He has three shops in London but sadly you can't order online.

William Curley is also excellent and has an online shop.

Both of these are pricey but really top quality.

Lick the Spoon - based in Wiltshire. Heavenly chocolate from a small independent family business. They are very into sustainability.

It is the best chocolate I've ever tasted and I've tasted a lot and looks beautiful and gorgeously presented.

Their Easter eggs (I know it's not what you are after but worth a look to see their style) are a work of art.

Slatterys in Whitefield near Manchester. They do handmade chocolate and yummy cakes as well.

Al203 · 29/06/2019 18:09

Rococo as another posted said is the one I referred to in Moxon Street. Thank you.

Have bought hand made artisan chocolate from Crofts for special gifts and their products are delicious.

tinytemper66 · 29/06/2019 18:12

There is one in Wendover near Aylesbury but can't remember the name. It is also a cafe and they make and sell the chocolate in the shop.

WillowLeClerc · 29/06/2019 18:20

www.gorvettandstone.com/ has really delicious chocolate and is an independent shop in Henley.

MustardScreams · 29/06/2019 18:23

If you’re London based Paul A Young without a doubt. It’s even worth the trip to London just to get his chocolates tbh.

Westnorwood · 29/06/2019 18:25

Another vote for Rococo really good stuff.

Modestandatinybitsexy · 29/06/2019 18:31

Cocoa runners cocoarunners.com/shop-craft-chocolate/

They're great. They put together gift boxes and do subscriptions.

Villanellesproudmum · 29/06/2019 18:31

Sarah Bunton chocolates are gorgeous.
